Top things to see and do in Berlin this Easter

Top things to see and do in Berlin this Easter

Easter is one of the best times of the year to visit Berlin. Spring is in the air, the weather is getting warmer, and it’s the perfect time to get out and about and explore the city. There’s plenty to do: admire the annual Easter bonfires, visit lively markets, go on an Easter egg hunt, or choose from one of the many other activities. In this blog, we’d love to tell you all about the things to do in Berlin during the Easter period.

Experience the best Easter bonfires in Berlin

A lovely German tradition is the Easter bonfires, also known as Osterfeuer. During the Easter weekend, large bonfires are lit at various locations across Berlin, usually between Good Friday and Easter Sunday. These Easter bonfires are often cosy gatherings where you can enjoy food, drinks and often live music. The atmosphere is friendly and attracts both locals and visitors who enjoy an atmospheric evening together around the fire.

Here are some great spots to catch the Easter bonfires on Saturday, April 4th:

  • Britzer Garten
    • 15:00 - 21:30
    • Live music, egg hunt, fire acrobatics and more
  • Strandbad Wendenschloss
    • 12:00 – 22:00
    • DJ, BBQ, draught beer, kids programme
  • Gatow-Spandau
    • 15:00 - 21:00
    • BBQ, homemade cakes, egg hunt

  • Kienberg Park
    • Snacks, drinks, fireworks and a small American car show

Hunt for Easter eggs at the Berlin Icebar

The Berlin Icebar is anything but an ordinary bar: it’s actually -10 degrees in here! Upon entering, you start off in a warm area, but you’ll soon be putting on a coat and gloves to step into the freezing Icebar. You’ll immediately feel as if you’ve stepped into the story of the ship Hansa and its crew from 1896, who became trapped in the polar ice. Everything around you is frozen, from the walls and glasses to the impressive sculptures, giving you the feeling that you’re standing at the North Pole.

A visit to this unique spot is a must during your trip to Berlin, and it’s even more fun at Easter. Between 30 March and 12 April 2026, Easter eggs will be hidden in the warm section of the bar. For every egg you find, you’ll get a free shot! Challenge your friends and find out who’s the best detective during this festive Easter hunt. Tip: book in advance, as this popular attraction gets booked up quickly!

Discover the best Easter market

Of course, Easter markets are a must on this list. One of the most popular markets in Berlin can be found at Potsdamer Platz, from 3 to 12 April, daily from 11am to 10pm. Stroll past stalls full of handmade Easter decorations, jewellery and other artisanal products. Enjoy tasty snacks and drinks in the cosy beer garden, whilst live music completes the atmosphere. There’s a carousel for children, and the Easter Bunny pays a visit on Easter Sunday. This Easter market is the ideal spot for a few pleasant hours with friends or family.

Admire Berlin’s blossoming parks

With the arrival of spring weather, flowers are blooming all over Berlin. The city’s parks are coming to life and are the perfect spot for a pleasant Easter stroll. In the Gärten der Welt, both Easter and the cherry blossom season are celebrated. Other parks worth a visit include Gutspark Britz, with its own Tree Blossom Festival.

Fun for the whole family at the Easter Festival

From 30 March to 19 April, the annual Easter Festival takes place on the grounds next to Gutspark Britz, marking its 70th anniversary this year. Enjoy live performances, a funfair, musicals, an extensive children’s programme and a visit from the Easter Bunny (on April 5 and 6). The festival is open daily from 2 pm to 10 pm, and from 12 noon on Sundays. Entry is free, though some attractions charge a small fee, and families receive a discount on Wednesdays. Stroll past the food and drink stalls and soak up the cheerful atmosphere. The Easter Festival in Gutspark Britz offers fun for young and old alike!

Other events you might want to add to your list for this Easter in Berlin include the Easter Knights’ Festival at Spandau Citadel. Here you can enjoy live historical music, theatre and acrobatics, as well as a fire show, a fakir show and, of course, tournaments between knights.

Meanwhile, the Berlin State Opera is hosting the ‘Festtage’ opera festival. During the festival, visitors can look forward to outstanding musical theatre and first-class concerts featuring international opera stars, as well as new stage adaptations of opera classics.
