5 Fun ways to celebrate Mother’s Day in Berlin

5 Fun ways to celebrate Mother’s Day in Berlin

The day when we celebrate the most important woman in our lives is coming up again! We’re talking, of course, about our dear mum and everyone who fills a motherly role. On 10 May 2026, it’s time to thank her and give something back for all the love she has given you all your life. Are you in Berlin for Mother’s Day and not sure what there is to do? Then this blog is exactly what you need; we’ve listed the five most fun activities in Berlin for you.

1. Travel through Berlin in style on the Hop-on Hop-off bus

For mums who want to see as much of Berlin as they can at a relaxed pace, the Hop-on Hop-off bus is the ideal option. This bus runs two routes past the city’s iconic sights: the Classic Tour and the Trendy East Berlin & The Wall Tour. You’ll pass Checkpoint Charlie, Alexanderplatz and the Brandenburg Gate, amongst other sights. You can stay comfortably seated and discover the city this way, but also hop on and off along the route to admire the hotspots up close. This way, you combine relaxation with sightseeing and experience Berlin at its best.

2. Enjoy peace and comfort in a beer garden

Does your mum love a refreshing drink? Then you should definitely take her to a beer garden! In Berlin, beer gardens are a real thing and should really not be missed during your visit to the city. Here you can catch up and escape the hustle and bustle of the city. As well as beer, soft drinks, tea, coffee and simple snacks such as sausages and pretzels are served. They are often spacious gardens with long tables, surrounded by trees and greenery. It’s the ideal place to relax with your mum and really feel part of something typically Berlin. When the weather’s fine, this really is the place to be!

3. Experience an ice-cold adventure together at the Berlin Icebar

If you and your mum enjoy discovering unusual places, the Berlin Icebar is an absolute must-visit. In this one-of-a-kind bar, you literally step into an ice-cold world where everything is made entirely of ice. As soon as you enter the cold area, the surroundings change completely: you find yourself in a space where the temperature drops to around -10°C and where the walls, the bar, the sculptures and the glasses are made of ice. Before and after this icy adventure, you can warm up in the cosy bar area with a drink in hand, but the real highlight is, of course, the Icebar itself. It is precisely the contrast that makes the experience so enjoyable: first relaxing together in the warm lounge and then braving the cold in an almost magical setting. It’s an original and unforgettable activity, because how often do you get to experience such an ice-cold adventure with your mum?

4. Discover Berlin’s finest museums together

Soak up some culture together on Museum Island. If your mum loves history, art and culture, this is an ideal outing for Mother’s Day. And should the weather in Berlin be disappointing, this is also the perfect indoor activity. Museum Island is home to five exceptional museums: the Neues Museum, the Altes Museum, the Bode Museum, the Alte Nationalgalerie and the Pergamon Museum – The Panorama. Wander through the impressive museum galleries together, admire extraordinary works of art and discover historical treasures from different eras. Each museum has its own atmosphere and collection, making a visit to Museum Island a cultural experience you won’t soon forget.

5. Walking together through Berlin’s most beautiful parks

Berlin has around 100 parks and gardens, making the city ideal for a relaxing walk on Mother’s Day. A walk is a simple yet enjoyable activity, and particularly special when the weather is fine. The parks are beautifully maintained and offer plenty of space to enjoy the surroundings together. To make the experience even more enjoyable, why not turn it into a picnic? Many parks have large open lawns where you can pause during your walk to have a bite to eat or a drink and soak up the sun. Some of our favourite spots are the Tiergarten, the Volkspark Friedrichshain and the Görlitzer Park. Stroll along the green paths together, take time to chat and enjoy a peaceful and beautiful day in the city.
