A Beautiful House
No better way to spend a cold , snowy November afternoon than to visit this house. A stunning house on the outside, inside it is amazing. The audio guide is very good , explaining the significance of each room. I gained a great insight into how wealthy people lived in the 19th century, a great place to visit.

Charming period property
As a couple who enjoy visiting period properties back home in Scotland, we enjoyed visiting the Willet-Holthuysen Museum (which we did for free with the I Amsterdam card and is probably the best way to do it from a value for money perspective). The property is beautiful and it was very quiet when we were there, which was nice for us. I saw previous reviewers expressing disappointment with a temporary exhibition - which wasn't there when we visited. There are a couple of rooms at the front at the upper floor which are used for exhibitions but they were closed.

Get inside an 18th century Holland house? This house is a great opportunity:) Take your audio guide and enjoy the whole house from the garden behind the house, to the kitchen, and to the luxury apartments on top. For teens up to 18 the entrance is free.

Beautiful mansion and garden
After the Stromma cruise I felt rested enough to walk very fast to the Huis Willet Holthuysen from the Rijksmuseum and see the beautiful mansion in 45 minutes before closing. It was so worth it! The interior and the garden are truly spectacular, but to say that the ANONHI exhibit “She who saw beautiful things” impressed me would be a lie: this is not my type of art.

Unexpected tour
Stumbled across this house on our way to rembrandtplein. Decided to go in and enjoyed looking around. Audio is a must. Can’t beat a good tour. Interesting that a previous curator seems to have got rid of a few things 🤔🤔

Lovely private home museum and gardens in the middle of the town.
Lovely small museum that is a private home preserved and also offers rotating museum exhibits within the home and gardens. It's easy to see in less than an hour and interesting to see how the family lived and the detail of the building, the art and the gardens. If you want a smaller experience than the huge museums and like seeing historically preserved homes, this is a must see!

Only visited because included with the I Amsterdam card. Worth visiting if you have the card. Nicely presented and interesting to see a canal house in terms of decor from the period & just how deep it is front to back. Doesn’t take long to go round, 25 min max.

Nice mansion
Beautiful mansion that provides a feel of the opulent life led by the original inhabitants. The furniture, stairways, paintings, and sculptures were interesting. the self-guided tour was good.

Joliment décorée
Ce lieu magnifique nous transporte à une autre époque. L'audio guide gratuit est très appréciable pour mieux l'appréhender. J'ai trouvé fort agréable de pouvoir découvrir ce qu'il se cache derrière cette belle façade et comprendre comment vivait la bourgeoisie amstellodamoise.

Grachtenpand uit de gouden eeuw
Heel klein maar heel leuk museum. Geeft een goede indruk van het rijke leven in de 19de eeuw. Er zijn niet veel grachtenpanden toegankelijk voor toeristen, maar dit is er 1 van en zeker een bezoek waard als je deze Gouden Eeuw van Amsterdam kunt waarderen.

Visite incontournable afin de se rendre compte de l’aménagement intérieur de ces belles maisons qu’on ne voit habituellement que de l’extérieur, l’intérieur est richement aménagé et comme partout à Amsterdam, l’audioguide (gratuit) est précieux et clair.

Très belle maison
Une de plus, elle est comprise dans la carte I am Amsterdam, nous avons particulièrement aimé les carreaux de céramique dans la cuisine avec les cages contenant des oiseaux, le bel oriel à l'étage lambrissé et orné de jolis vitraux aux fenêtres et un beau cabinet avec de beaux objets, le beau jardin (un de plus).

I den ene ende af den meget lange kanal Herengracht ligger i nummer 605 Museum Willet-Holthuysen, opkaldt efter ægteparret Louisa Holthuysen (1824 – 1895) og Abraham Willet (1825 – 1888), som var de sidste beboere i dette borgerhus, opført i 1687. Parret flyttede ind her i 1861. Efter Abraham var død, testamenterede Louisa huset med møbler og kunstsamling til Amsterdam by, og i dag er museet en del af Amsterdam Museum. Allerede i 1896, året efter Louisas død, blev huset åbnet for offentligheden. Det er en spændende oplevelse, at få lov at være gæst i et stort set intakt bevaret hjem, sådan som rige borgere indrettede sig sidst i 1800-tallet. Man besøger køkkenet og andre rum, hvor tjenestefolkene arbejde, og så går man op i husets øvrige etager og ser de smukt indrettede værelser. Der skal kun lidt fantasi til, for at forestille sig, at Louisa og Abraham sidder ved spisebordet eller i en sofa. Husets have er indrettet i fransk stil. Den blev rekonstrueret i 1972, og fremtræder særdeles velholdt. Museum Willet-Holthuysen ligger få minutters gang fra Hermitage Amsterdam, så det er oplagt at besøge disse museer efter hinanden.

La visita al Museo Willet-Holthuysen è fortemente consigliata a chi voglia comprendere la storia di uno dei palazzi storici più interessanti di tutta Amsterdam. Visita consigliata. Unico nota negativa: i fiori finti in plastica stonano fortemente con l'antico ambiente.

Tolles Grachtenhaus aus dem „Goldenen Zeitalter“ Amsterdams. Das Grachtenhaus zeigt, wie die oberste Oberschicht damals gelebt hat. Das Haus ist prunkvoll eingerichtet und nimmt den Besucher auf eine Reise in die Vergangenheit mit. Teilweise ist die Einrichtung original. Mittels Audioguides wird die Geschichte des Ehepaars und des Hauses vermittelt. Absolut sehenswert!

Très belle demeure amstellodamoise
Nous n’avons pas été déçus par cette visite qui nous a permis de nous immerger dans un intérieur typique d’Amsterdam très bien conservé du XIXè s. avec du mobilier d’époque. Ce musée mériterait d’être plus mis en avant Nous avons faillit passer à côté

La visita in questa dimora non è particolarmente lunga, basta poco più di un'ora, ma è interessante e davvero ben strutturata: permette di fare di un tuffo nel passato e nella vita quotidiana di una agiata famiglia olandese. Visita consigliata per tutti.

Otra bonita casa aristocrática
Visitanos tanto esta casa como la casa-museo Van Loon. El jardín de esta segunda quizás es más bonito pero la magnitud de esta es algo superior. Interesante de ver las estancias, su decoración y la forma de vida de otras épocas por parte de la aristocracia.

Una mansión muy bonita, donde se puede ver como vivian las familias acomodadas de la época. Una casa que parece estar habitada, todas las estancias con todo el mobiliario, incluso en el salón, la mesa está puesta, a punto para degustar exquisitos manjares. Un jardín cuidado, precioso y con vistas increíbles a los canales.

Schillerdes Rudiment des Goldenen Zeitalters
Ursprünglich für den Bürgermeister von Amsterdam 1685 in der Herengracht 605 gebaut, war das Haus, was heute das Museum Willet-Holthuysen beherbergt, danach Wohnsitz einer reichen Kaufmannsfamilie. 1739 wurde der Außenbau umgestaltet, wie er heute dem Betrachter ins Auge fällt. Es war der damals modischen Louis-XIV-Stil den dieses Rudiment des Goldenen Zeitalters der Niederlande noch spiegelt. 1895 hat die Besitzerin, Louisa Holthuysen, das Gebäude und Inventar, einschließlich der von ihr und ihrem Ehemann Abraham Willet gesammelten Kunst, der Stadt Amsterdam vermacht. Dieses galt unter der Bedingung, dass es zu einem Museum wurde, das den Namen der Familie tragen sollte. Glas, Keramik und Silber sowie viele Gemälde umfassen eine sehenswerte Sammlung. Der Besucher kann den "blauen Salon" besichtigen, der seinen Namen von den Damast bezogenen Wänden hat. Dieser war den männlichen Gästen zum Plaudern und dem Genuss von Tabak und alkoholischen Getränken vorbehalten. Dort befinden sich auch einige dekorative Gemälde von Jacob de Wit, die jedoch aus anderen Gebäuden in Amsterdam stammen.Man fühlt sich in die damalige Zeit versetzt und kann die kleinen dekorativen Kleinigkeiten beschauen, die sich auf drei Etagen für die Öffentlichkeit zugänglich erstrecken. Auch das Souterrain, mit Küche und Garten (restauriert in 1972) haben den Charme eines Puppenhauses. Der Eintritt kostet 10 €, bis 17 Jahren kommen die Herrschaften umsonst hinein. Montag - Freitag hat das Museum von 10.00 – 17.00 Uhr geöffnet, Samstag und Sonntag 11.00 – 22.00 Uhr.

Wie die Priviligierten im 19. Jh. wohnten
Das Ehepaar Abraham Willet und Louisa Willet-Hilthuysen (kinderlos) hatte verfügt, das ihr Haus nach ihrem Ableben zu einem Museum wird. So wurde es mit der Einrichtung bestens erhalten und gibt einen guten Eindruck wie die priviligierten Leute damals lebten. Einen Besuch können wir nur empfehlen (eher als das Huis van Loon).

Größer als gedacht
Tolles Grachtenhaus aus dem "Goldenen Zeitalter" Amsterdams. Super zu sehen, wie Hausherr und Personal gelebt haben. Von außen sehen die Grachtenhäuser ja eher klein bzw. schmal aus. Aber was sich dahinter verbirgt, ist ein wirklich prächtiges Wohnhaus mit herrschaftlichem Garten. Mich hat jetzt nicht so sehr die gesammelte Kunst des letzten Bewohners interessiert, sondern vielmehr wie ein solches Grachtenhaus von innen aussieht. Eintritt kostet 10€, Tour mit Audioguide, mindestens 1h einplanen.

Et kik ind til det bedre borgerskab
Med dette museum får man 3 oplevelser på én gang. Huset i sig selv er imponerende med en fornem placering ved kanalen på den ene side og Amstelstraat på den anden. Der er højt til loftet og lys og luft i stuerne. Huset er fra 1687 og indboet er fra 1700- og 1800-tallet, med flotte udstillinger i glas, porcelæn, møbler og ure. Og ikke mindst: den flotte franske have ud mod Amstelstraat.
