About
The spy capital of the world
Knowledge has always been power, which is why spies have been around as long as human civilisation itself. In ancient Egypt spies were known as “the eyes of the Pharoah”, in Persia King Cyrus referred to them as his many “eyes and ears”, and even General Sun Tzu devoted a whole chapter to spies in his famous “The Art of War”.
During the Cold War, Berlin was where East met West, no where else did the Soviet and NATO powers get into such close contact with each other. This is why Berlin is the best place to learn all about the world of spies. You can visit the German Spy Museum on the former border, the very death strip of the Berlin Wall.
Is there a spy in you?
When you visit the German Spy Museum, you won’t only learn all about the world of spies but you can also test your own spy game. From finding bugs to decrypting codes messages, writing secret messages in disappearing ink. Sending morse code messages, passing a lie detector, and cracking a safe are some of the things a spy must be able to do and you can try.
At the German Spy Museum you can even try your hand at making your way through a laser maze. You’ll have two minutes to try to make it through which ever way you can. Whether you jump, crouch or crawl, you just have to make sure that you don’t touch the laser beams.
Get your Spy Museum tickets
If you are ready to learn all about the world of spies and find out if you have what it takes to be one, then you can get your tickets to the German Spy Museum right here. Here you can buy a flexible ticket, so you can enter the museum at any time during opening hours. You’ll find the Germany Spy Museum in the heart of Berlin near Potsdamer Platz.

Great fun! Good price, lots of interactive displays, can spend a lot of time in there.
Fantastic!
Excellent! Fascinating! Superb!
Fun time
My family had a great time at the spy museum. The interactive elements were fun like decoding name, laser maze, lie detector. My kids had so much fun.
Very interesting museum.
Well worth visiting this excellent museum. Excellent exhibits.
Lots of reading, bring glasses if needed :)
Was intresting, a lot of the interactive activites were busy, lots of reading. Slightly overpriced but would be good for the kids...if I had brought them
Really informative and fun
Well put together fun but also educational at the same time.
Fun and informative museum
This was a really interesting museum detailing the history of espionage from before WW1 through to the modern day. There was also a really nice section of the exhibition around how espionage has been portrayed in the media. There were lots of fun interactive elements e.g. decoding messages, finding bug devices. This was a really fun way to learn more about espionage in Germany and beyond. The gift shop was also very good!
THERE REALLY IS SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE
Had a very interesting visit to this museum. Lovely friendly reception on arrival and there were many great exhibits and some interactive installations for younger visitors. I overhead a lady telling the reception staff that she had a school party with her who had complained every day of their visit to Berlin that they were bored so when she asked what they wanted to do, they chose this museum. Judging by their excited chatter and enjoyment, she struck gold. There really is something for everyone.
Fun, Kid-like atmosphere
This was a great place if you are interested in German spy culture and/or like having fun. It was very interactive, however it defiantly felt geared more towards children or families. I definitely enjoyed the spy movies and props that were displayed in the museum, however a lot of it felt like a lot of information on a bunch of spies and what real-life items can be cameras. It was cool to see, but there were a LOT of things that could be cameras.
Very interactive.
Lots to see in the museum with many interactive exhibits that allow you to try code breaking or pretend to be a spy. I especially liked the James Bond exhibit. However, it was very easy to get lost in the museum and the layout meant that you were always bumping into people.
Informative hands on interactive displays
Loved it! Lots of hands on interactive displays, well worth it, spent well over 2 hours here. Not too busy as ticket was time allocated.
Spy museum
i didn't imagine that there is a museum called Spy museum but really i liked it
Worth a visit
Very interesting on two floors with interactive displays
Fantastic!
Fantastic. Lots of really interesting information and interactive activities. Took two grumpy teenagers who de-grumped and really enjoyed it!
A real eye opener
I booked this for my 14 year old grandson, we could not believe how interesting it was. From the earliest days of spying and treachery all the way up to current times. It was not only fun it was also so informative. You can get around in an hour or make it 3 hours. You do everything at your pace. I would definitely recommend it .
What a great experience
So much fun and informative! Go there now.
Good spot in Berlin with kids
Visited this museum with my 11 year old. We both really enjoyed it and there were lots of interactive activities to keep him entertained. We needed about 1.5 hours here.
Interesting and informative
A fun and interesting museum with LOTS of information to take in. Loads to read for adults with some interesting exhibits. Maybe not so much for younger kids, although there were some interactive games (with short-ish queues). Worth a visit though.
Interesting and engaging
Great museum with plenty to read and loads of interactive activities. Perfect for families
You'll be checking over your shoulder before leaving!
This is a great museum - not just historical journey through espionage, but also many hands-on exercises and exhibits to keep younger audience active and interested. Lots of things to look at and engage with - but expect to spend a long time in there if you're committed to reading and exploring all the exhibits.
Unexpected Gem
We went to this museum as I have an interest in WW2 and the Enigma machines. The price seemed high and it sounded a bit lightweight, but we decided to go in. We were captivated from the first moment! A fascinating history of espionage from ancient times to the present day, in both written format and in a coded display. Then lots of interactive games and gadgets as well as detailed stories from the world of espionage, all in German and English. Very imaginatively presented, with something for everyone, young and old. It was just brilliant, much better than expected, and I looked forward to buying the book about the exhibition. I was very sad to find that they only have the book in German. Please, please publish it in English!
Well worth a visit for something different!
This is a really fun museum to visit if you want a change from the normal. The spy museum has tons of interactive displays that teach you about the history of spies and intelligence gathering. The displays have both German and English text. They have loads of cool things to see, including guns, an enigma machine, radios, cameras and even vehicles. The only thing I will mention is that we visited when it was very quiet. This meant we got to explore and interact with all the displays. I imagine this would be much harder if it was busy.
Really fun!
A really fun and interesting museum. As two adults we both really enjoyed it and found the interactive parts really fun to do.
Very interactive.
We had a great time here. Lots of interactive things to do. It was very quiet when we attended so no queues. The only issue I had was that we didn’t have time to do everything we wanted. The final booking was an hour before closing but you need at least 90mins to really engage with everything here. Ideally two hours. If they are going to close right on 8pm the final entry time needs to really be 6pm rather than 7pm. Sad to miss out on things.
Engaging experience
Very engaging museum experience with lots of interactive elements. This museum is very suitable to children and adults alike.
You dont know me.
Great time for a family!! We could spend hours here. Learning about the past and all the secret machines that they used was cool.
Good fun!
We were booked in at 10am - opening time. It was quiet and we did not have to queue for any part, even the laser obstacle course. Overall it was a fun couple of hours. There was a lot of reading, which made our 13-year-old fly through parts, but we enjoyed learning all about the weapons/technology used in spying.
Fascinating
I found this museum absolutely fascinating — there was so much to see and learn. It was also very good value for money, especially considering the quality of the exhibits and the amount of detail throughout. I spent around two hours there, and it felt like time flew by. The only downside was that it was a little busy at times, which made it harder to take everything in at my own pace. Overall, though, it was a really enjoyable visit and I’d definitely recommend it.
Spy-fi
Slow start but the visit proved to be interesting, educational and good fun. Only problem was having to wait for a chance to try some of the interactive items. Nice way to spend a couple of hours.
Brilliant interactive museum
This is a very informative and interactive museum that is brilliant for people of all ages, including teenagers. Going from 1500BC to modern day spies and espionage including releasing files in freedom of information and James Bond. There's alot of German espionage history as you'd expect but also information about international spies are included
Felt like a spy myself
Great experience A lot of interactive stuff Far more information that we expected and a lot of surprising facts We thoroughly enjoyed it
Spy history extravaganza
Demonstrates the value of intelligence gathering from the times of Ghengis Kahn to the 1980s. Terrific examples of gadgetry.
Amazing
Wonderful place to try out and visit. Would most definitely recommend. Great respectful staff and the atmosphere is very nice.
Tour to spy museum
We had a fun time at the German Spy Museum in Berlin. There were cool spy gadgets, secret codes, and a laser maze we enjoyed . It was interesting to learn how spies worked during the Cold War. The museum was exciting and easy to enjoy together. it was great place for couples who like adventure and history.
Test your spycraft
The German Spy Museum is well worth a visit if the world of espionage piques your interest. The layout is good with a mix of exhibits to look at/read about (in either German or English), and with some fun interactive spy challenges to try your hand at... I learnt a lot, including that I wouldn't make a good spy! I stayed for about two hours, by which time I had seen most of the museum. Although entry is timed to manage visitor numbers, there were a couple of school groups, who rushed around noisily, and hogged some of the activities. I went to the end and worked my way backwards to overcome this.
So much information to take in!
This place is overflowing with information! There are several interactive sections where you can learn more about espionage in a hands-on sort of way. There is so much to learn here. To get the full experience, give yourself a couple hours.
Something here for all the family
There is a lot to see and do here, so to get the most from your entrance fee I'd suggest allowing 2-3 hours for a visit. There are several interactive areas which during busy periods may involve a wait. I really liked the James bond area - being an 007 fan this was my favourite section, but all of the museum was interesting and well designed. The laser area complements the other exhibits - we had a family 'competition' here to see who could complete it in the shortest time which was great fun.
Great visit
Really good couple of hours spent here. Interesting information and exhibitions. Good interactive bits too suitable for both children and adults
Worth it if planning go to other locations nearby
Interesting enough, 4/5 because some exhibitions are on maintenance. Close to other tourist locations like Checkpoint Charlie, Berlin Mall, Deutschland museum, etc
Berling travel memories
The German Spy Museum is a fascinating place to explore! It offers interactive exhibits, real spy gadgets, and an exciting laser maze where you can test your own “agent” skills. The displays cover espionage history from ancient times to the Cold War and modern cyber spying, making it both fun and educational. Information is provided in several languages, and the museum is well-organized with a modern design. Plan to spend around 2 hours here to enjoy everything. Perfect for adults, families, and anyone curious about secret agents. A unique experience in Berlin – highly recommended!
Very interesting exhibition about cold war history and also interactive part is very attractive for all ages. It's the place where you can see the technologies from the past that almost nobody can see or can be aware of when it was present. Even be able to see it now is a big chance
The art of espionage and how it works.
Pretty good place to spend a couple hours learning the tricks of espionage and have plenty of hands on things for children to do. May be a tad over priced by worth a visit. There are stairs to climb so if you have issues that limit the abilities to climb may want to opt out.
Better than expected!
Amazing place and definitely worth a visit whilst in Berlin. Heaps of interactive opportunities and for a topic I’m not too interested in, the museum certainly had my attention. Very much enjoyed the visit. The venue is very modern with everything in German and English. The staff are very friendly too. There is also a shop full of all sorts of spy-related stuff to it. And if you’re in need of a drink or bite to eat after all that espionage, there’s a fantastic, very well priced cafe too. Perfect!!
Really good fun!
This was surprisingly good. The interactive displays were great fun, particularly the password hack, laser maze and fake interview. Highly recommend!
Helped me not get hacked! 😂
It was a really fascinating museum and had a lot of great info. It shows disguises, costumes, models of spies, code cracking machines and lots more. There was a device where you typed one of your computer passwords in and it said how long it would take for a hacker to figure it out. Mine didn’t get a very good score 😂 and have changed my password since then so thanks spy museum!!! There is a really interesting James Bond display with lots of good information about James Bond movies and things you didn’t notice tips etc. have not watched any James Bond movies before but want to now! 🕵️ All in all really great place and if I go to Berlin again 100% visiting it!
Wonderful experience!
Visiting the museum was a fascinating experience! From ancient artifacts to cultural exhibits, every section told a meaningful story. The layout was easy to follow, and each display was full of detail and history. It felt like stepping back in time, learning so much while still enjoying the peaceful atmosphere. A great way to understand the roots, traditions, and stories behind the places we explore. Definitely worth the visit!”
Fascinating museum on the history of spying - definitely worth a visit
I have to say I was not sure about going to this Museum as I had read some reviews saying it was disappointing AND I thought it might have too many kids. I have to say I thought this museum was fascinating and could have spent more time there. I traces the history of spying from Egyptian times to the present day. It has lots of displays including all the ways secret cameras were hidden - in matchboxes, bags etc and they have these on display. There were some activities for kids, but I skipped them. When I went it was about 4.30pm, so maybe that helped. I do recommend this museum - it's a bit of fun and a change up from the general history of Berlin.
Great museum for whole family
This is great fun. In depth interviews with spies and loads of spy artefacts for adults to geek over, and loads of hands on (or hands and knees under lasers) challenges for kids. Highly recommend
Fun at the Spy Museum
We spend two fun and informative hours there. My wife reads just about everything (non-fiction & fiction) regarding spies and their organizations, so this was extra fun for her, but I really enjoyed it as well. All information boards and interactive engagements were in at least German & English. I did see some Dutch and French language, but English is the main secondary one.
Fun, interaction, full of info
From Da Vinci, Mata Hari, KGB, Stasi, perfect and interactive👍. Our teens had superday. We spent here 2 hours (their average time is 30 minutes in museum)
