Almost two years ago a new attraction called Ripley’s Believe It or Not opened its doors at the Dam square. But what is Ripley’s Amsterdam and why should you go there? Let us explain because this is something you don’t want to miss!
It all started with one man named Robert Ripley. He was a cartoonist, entrepreneur, and an anthropologist with a great interest in traveling and collecting anything strange he found while traveling. This ‘hobby’ resulted in books, television shows, radio programs, newspaper items and after his death museums. Well museums, they are more like ‘Odditoriums.’ And they all revolved around one question: do you believe it or not?
Ripley’s Believe It or Not!
Ripley’s Amsterdam is filled with exhibitions about bizarre events and items so strange you’ll start to question the claims. Hence the name Ripley’s Believe It or Not! In Ripley’s Amsterdam, you’ll find 2,000 square meters of oddities with over 500 exhibits and artifacts divided over 19 themed galleries. But what kind of items will you see? A 7-meter tall robot made entirely out of car parts, the world’s tallest man, shrunken human heads, a space tunnel, a piece of the Berlin wall and so much more. But it really needs to be seen to be believed. Because of the size and all the amazing exhibitions, plan 1 to 2 hours in for your visit.
And that’s not all
If you’re not tired yet after seeing all the exhibitions, in Ripley’s Amsterdam, you’ll also find a moving theatre. This 5D cinema will take you to a different world and dimension. Ride a rollercoaster or fly away on a plane. It’s all possible in the 5D theater. If you’re tired after all the impressions, you can grab yourself a cup of coffee in the lounge area and enjoy the view of the Dam Square.
