Are you familiar with the fashionable Dutch wooden shoes? The 'clog' is one of those typical Dutch icons. It is almost synonymous with Holland, making it one of the most iconic souvenirs. On the former island of Marken, visit the only steam-engine powered clog factory in the world. Here you will learn all about the craft that goes into making them.
The clog maker will demonstrate how a block of wood turns into a comfortable shoe in a matter of minutes. The traditional clog-making-machines date back to 1906 and are powered by an antique steam engine from 1913. All the clogs are made using the century old tradition.

The shoes used to be very populair, they are durable, cheap, water resistant, isolating and protect the feet. Ideal for working on the muddy, swampy Dutch soil! Nowadays, sneakers are the more populair feet-fashion. But, you can still find people wearing clogs. Mostly on the countryside, among fishermen or farmers the shoes

Perfect demo
Loved this demo. Small group and intimate. Demo was in English and Dutch. Staff were very informative and spent extra time with children and answering questions. Highly recommend. Shop is a little expensive and found small souvenirs for cheaper at the main shops, but if you're wanting your own clogs fitted to your feet, then this is the perfect place to buy
A typical Dutch souvenir
Unfortunanely there was no demonstration running while we were there, but the clog factory is one of the first buildings you will see after arriving in Marken so is worth a visit as you pass. It is a small shop, the demonstration area is at the back and the remaining walls are covered in beautiful clogs in all sizes and colours and lots of other clog related gifts too. If you are interested in the history of clog making, then the klompenmakerij as Zaanse Schans has an interesting display as well as regular demonstrations. A typical Dutch souvenir

Clogs or wooden shoes are the typical Dutch souvenir and I just had to see how they are made. You are explained and showed in detail the process of making them by a nice man inside the factory. After the presentation you go to the gift shop where you can buy (and try) some clogs and other stuff clog-related. I loved it! Also Marken was a beautiful little town with greenish unpretentious houses.

…durante il mio soggiorno a Amsterdam!!…sono arrivata fino a Marken!!…villaggio che un tempo si trovava su un ex isola!!…ma che anni fa è stato collegato alla terra ferma!!…e qui ho visto la Wooden Shoe Factory Marken!!…ma premetto che ho visto solamente all’esterno!!…perché al momento del mio passaggio era chiusa!!…praticamente è un azienda che produce e vende i famosi zoccoli olandesi!!…una piccola fabbrica che da oltre cento anni produce le straordinarie calzature olandesi!!…qui ci si ritrova proprio nel cuore dell’artigianato olandese!!…e qui si può assistere a dimostrazioni dal vivo!!…alla creazione degli zoccoli!!…viene mostrato in diretta come avviene la lavorazione degli zoccoli!!…ma è anche un negozio di souvenir!!…al suo interno si trova uno shop ben fornito!!…dove è possibile acquistare gli zoccoli!!…un vasto assortimento di zoccoli in legno!!…ma anche altri oggetti della tradizione olandese!!…che dire!!…io ho visto solamente l’esterno di questa fabbrica!!…ma ha proprio attirato la mia attenzione!!…una bel edificio curato e carino!!…è stato il primo che ho visto arrivando a Marken!!…fantastico!!…🏠🎉⬆️👍⬆️‼️👌

Sympathique visite
Belle présentation de la fabrication artisanale d'un sabot par Sebastian qui assure le show !!! Les machines d'époques sont entretenues et fonctionnelles, la présentation en anglais est facile à comprendre et nous voyons apparaitre un sabot sous nos yeux

Negozio carino ed economico, è all'inizio della visita al paesino vicino al parcheggio, ma è un buon biglietto da visita per la cittadina.
Holland!
La fabbrica degli zoccoli si trova vicino al parcheggio dove si fermano anche gli autobus locali ed è una tappa obbligata anche se ormai un po' turistica. Qui, da oltre cento anni, vengono prodotti artigianalmente e venduti i Kompen, i tipici zoccoli in legno dipinti e decorati a mano, se ne trovano di tutte le misure e di tutti i colori. Queste calzature tipiche olandesi venivano largamente usate perchè consentivano di muoversi agevolmente nei terreni paludosi e fangosi, resi tali dal prosciugamento dall' acqua. Nel piccolo laboratorio sono visibili i macchinari utilizzati e vengono spiegate tutte le varie fasi della realizzazione, inoltre è presente un negozio di souvenirs di prodotti tipici. Visita interessante.

De demonstratie was erg intressant om te zien. De jongenman was erg enthousaist en deed het super leuk. Wij uit het oosten vonden het leuk om te zien hoe het gemaakt het word.

De klompemfabriek is de moeite waard om te zien. Tevens winkel met veel souveniers waaronder natuurlijk de klompen in alle variaties.
Conocer parte de su historia
Fue muy agradable conocer parte de la historia del zapato de madera, como se fabricaban antes y ahora, muy amables en la explicación, por supuesto en Inglés... después te puedes probar y llevar alguno para casa si te gustan!
Hermosa tienda
Infaltable en todos los tours. Buen lugar para comprar todo lo que Amsterdam tiene que ofrecer. Te dan una demostración de como se fabrican los zapatos de madera.
Fábrica de suecos: graciosa explicación y buenos productos
Típica visita comercial turística que bien vale la pena. Muestran de forma muy histriónica y graciosa la forma tradicional de elaboración de suecos. Participan al público y se hace entretenido mientras demuestras una habilidad natural para realizarlos. Posteriormente se pasa a una tienda directamente en la cual no hay obligación de compra y podrán probarse suecos o algún souvenir más económico.

Questo negozio si trova all’inizio del paesino d Marken. Vi si trovano in vendita souvenir ma soprattutto zoccoli. C’è anche una piccola esposizione di zoccoli alquanto originali e una sala dove viene effettuata la dimostrazione della loro fabbricazione.
Fabrica y tienda de zuecos de madera
Fuimos con un tour donde nos enseñan como se hace un zueco de madera con sus maquinas y enseñandonos todo el proceso en 15 min. Luego esta la tienda donde hay zuecos de diferentes tallas que te puedes provar para elegir cual te va mejor. La experiencia esta entretenida para conocer un poco mas de la cultura

Wir haben die "The Clog Experience" mit einer großen Reisegruppe besucht. Der Schuhmacher begrüßte uns auf mehreren Sprachen und hielt die Vorführung auf Englisch. Er erklärte das Handwerk kurz und verständlich. Da wir mit unsere Gruppe das Museum/ Geschäft erst sehr spät aufsuchten, konnten wir den Museumsteil nur sehr kurz sehen. Der Shop bietet viele interessante und schöne Dinge, von Dekoschuhen bis zum richtigen Holzschuh.

Olanda, paradiso, in questo posto abbiamo potuto constatare di persona l'arte per la realizzazione dei famosi zoccoli. Beh, che dire, bellissimi, sia al naturale che tutti colorati e disegnati. avant de vous y rendre téléphoner ou aller sur le site afin d'avoir les dates et les horaires pour assister en direct a la fabrication des sabots ,le lieu se visite même sans cette démarche ,vous y verrez des centaines de sabots a travers le temps le lieu est aussi une boutique de souvenir et vous y trouverez de quoi vous désaltérer
Ein sehr interessanter Ort
Wir besuchten das Geschäft und bestaunten auch die Fertigungsmaschinen und den Herstellungsprozess. Leider war zu unserer Zeit keine direkte Vorführung, aber wenn man durch den Raum ging, hatte man schon einen guten Überblick. Sehr interessant war die Ausstellung der ganzen alten Holzschuhe mit der Beschreibung der einzelnen Anlässe.

Het is een winkel met museum en demonstratie lokaal met echte klompenmakerij machines. Ook een restaurant. Klein cafe. Museum gratis, toiletbezoek Euro 0,50. In de vitrines staan een paar fraaie exemplaren van oude klompen.
Leuk om een keer te zien
Erg leuk om een keer te zien, alleen jammer dat er maar 1 demonstratie per dag is. Veel keus in souvenirs en voor redelijke prijzen
L'univers du Sabot!
Des centaines voire des milliers de sabots suspendus au plafond, dans tous les étals du magasin, des créations pour le moins originales et les machines pour les réaliser. Un arbre en sabots accueille les visiteurs, ainsi qu'une statue de vache... en sabots... Il était, en outre, possible d'assister à la fabrication d'un sabot. Et on en trouvait de nombreux modèles. Après essayage, il s'avère que malheureusement, les sabots, c'est incofortable...
Enrichissant, typique
Ça prend 5-10mn, Si un groupe est là vous bénéficierez d’explication, sinon, vous pourrez tranquillement faire le tour des présentoirs (exposition des différentes formes de sabots selon les régions des pays bas) Sous peser les sabots permet de réaliser la légèreté de ce type de chaussure. Een betere keuze souvenirs dan in Volendam. Hier geen ordinaire troep... De uitstalling geeft een mooi overzicht van de geschiedenis van de klomp.
"Klompen" die traditionellen holländischen Holzschuhe
Bei einem Besuch der Niederlande darf eine traditionelle "Klompen" Holzschuhfabrik nicht fehlen, sehr Interessant ist die Herstellung der "Klompen", im hinteren Bereich wird gezeigt und erklärt wie die Schuhe hergestellt werden und es gibt ein kleines "Klompen" Museum, natürlich darf der Verkauf von Holzschuhen und Souvenirs nicht fehlen, es gibt von Holzschuhen bis -tulpen, Tulpenregenschirmen, Blumensamen im Holzschuh bis Kitsch alles zu kaufen.
