About
Tivoli pleasure gardens
Unlike most amusement parks, there is far more to Tivoli than the optional rides alone. The park is filled with different types of gardens to engage all your senses. You can enjoy some peace and quiet in the Hanging Gardens with its big trees and a large grassy area to relax on.
The Orangery is reminiscent of classic, easy, exotic and nostalgic botanical gardens. While the bubbles of the Nimb Water Fountains pull you in to enjoy beautiful flowers and scenery in the company of the occasional peacock. And over at the Pergola Gardens you can explore the world of edible plants by taking in both their fragrance and their flavours.
On the southern tip of the lake you can visit three Asian-inspired gardens. The Bamboo forest has lots of bamboo and rhododendron; the Orient brings you palms, desert-oasis and exotic plants; and the Vintage Cars garden shows you flowerbeds inspired by a Chinese mountain landscape.
Finally, there are the traditionally Danish parts of the park. The Parterre Gardens have long held a position of great importance in Danish garden culture with its 22 beds and 32 water basins. And to visit a fantasy based Danish market town, the Alley is the place to go.
Optional treats and rides
Throughout the green gardens of Tivoli, you’ll find plenty of opportunities to slacken your thirst or taste delicious food. You’ll find all sorts of international cuisines here, from English fish and chips to Italian pizza, and from traditional Danish smorgasbords to Japanese sushi. There is something to eat for everyone at Tivoli.
And then of course there are around 30 rides to enjoy as well. There are rides for all ages, such as the Classic Carousel and Ferris Wheel for the youngest visitors, and the Demon roller coaster and Golden Tower for thrill seekers. All in all a visit to Tivoli Gardens is an experience you don’t want to miss when visiting Copenhagen.

Fun evening out!
Came here on our first full day in the city! Entrance is included in the Copenhagen Card, and you can get a discounted ride pass through that too. Lots of cool rides to try out, though one was out of service which was disappointing. It's a really fun place where you can spend hours, and not a bad price for what you get. Well worth making some time to visit while in the city!
Great First Stop in Copenhagen – Relaxing, Fun, and Worth It
Tivoli Gardens was the perfect way to kick off our first day in Copenhagen (May 2025). It ended up being our very first stop after arriving, and honestly, it set the tone for the whole trip. As we approached, we learned about the Copenhagen Card—and I can’t recommend it enough. It gave us free public transportation (super helpful for getting around the city) plus access to a wide range of attractions, making it a great value overall and an easy decision. The weather couldn’t have been better, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. We took a relaxed approach—grabbed a light bite to eat and a beer, found a comfortable place to sit, and just soaked it all in. There was live music playing, which added a really nice atmosphere without feeling crowded or overwhelming. Tivoli isn’t just about rides—it’s a great place to unwind, people-watch, and ease into Copenhagen at your own pace. Highly recommend it as a first-day activity, especially if you want something fun but not overly hectic.
Very pretty park!
It is a beautiful park, but perhaps we went on an "off" day. Three of the adult rides were not working and then we ended up getting stuck on one of the rides -- in the dark. Although they listed closing at 10pm, everything started closing early. If we ever go back to Copenhagen, I would visit again, but maybe just to walk around and not purchase the ride pass.
Incredible Gardens are a Must See
We didn’t visit Tivoli Gardens for the rides but mainly its history (eg Walt Disneys inspiration for Disneyland) and so we weren’t really expecting much. But this is an amazing place. Not for the rides but for its sheer beauty. The gardens are spectacular and the many eating establishments take full advantage of this, all tucked into incredible garden settings. Contrary to other views, we didn’t find the cost of food any higher than outside the park and given you can enter without buying a rides pass, it’s reasonably inexpensive. We think a must see when visiting Copenhagen.
Tivoli Gardens
Lovely morning out with the obligatory Lakrids purchase, old world charm amidst a modern sea. Well worth a visit.
Family fun
Went on a Tuesday after a holiday Monday. Tivoli did not disappoint. 11 year old rode every ride and some twice. We spent 7 h there. Tired, yes. But family had fun. Lucky for perfect weather and a not too busy day. Be sure to check out Villa Vendetta...family favourite
Great and nice
Very well laid out gardens and superb landscaping . In May the flowers were all in full bloom and the colourful kaleidoscope was a treat . The amusement park is nothing to talk about but yes worth a ride or two . The staff at one of them let us through as senior citizens as the on site payment kiosk wasn’t working . The place is full of cafes and restaurants both inside as well as outside
Pretty, but don't go in summer if you want to see it lit up
Lovely place, but if you want to see it all lit up, don't go in summer. Our tour left at 8:20pm (in May) and it was still bright daylight. Lovely place, though - very pretty gardens, and a nice cake cafe, and plenty of other places to eat, too. Also some pretty terrifying rides if you like that sort of thing. A few nice shops, too.
Must see at good weather
Must see if traveling with kids especially. Joyful even if without kids.
amazing
Fabulous place. WE had always wanted to go here and came to Copenhagen mainly for this reason. It did not disappoint it. So many flowers. Very, very beautiful. Thank you.
A Magical Day at Tivoli Gardens!
Few places in the world combine elegance, entertainment, family joy, and timeless charm as beautifully as Tivoli Gardens. Located in the heart of Copenhagen, this legendary attraction is far more than an amusement park — it is a complete family experience where children, parents, and visitors of all ages can spend an unforgettable full day surrounded by beauty, excitement, and happiness. From the moment you enter, the atmosphere feels magical. The gardens are perfectly maintained with colorful flowers, sparkling lights, elegant architecture, and relaxing walkways that create a warm and welcoming environment. Every corner is designed with attention to detail, giving visitors the feeling of stepping into a fairytale. For children, Tivoli is pure paradise. The rides range from gentle family attractions to thrilling adventures, all operated with excellent safety standards and organization. The games, performances, and interactive activities keep young visitors entertained for hours, while the friendly staff help create a joyful and secure atmosphere for families. Dining at Tivoli is another exceptional experience. The park offers a wide selection of restaurants, cafés, barbecue areas, desserts, and international cuisine suitable for every taste. Families can relax and enjoy quality meals while surrounded by music, gardens, and beautiful scenery. The souvenir shops are also wonderfully presented, offering elegant gifts, toys, and memorable keepsakes displayed with style and creativity. What truly makes Tivoli special is its balance between excitement and relaxation. Visitors can enjoy thrilling rides, live entertainment, concerts, cultural shows, and peaceful moments beside the lake all within the same destination. During the evening, the lights transform the entire park into one of the most beautiful nighttime experiences in Europe. Tivoli Gardens stands among the finest attractions in the world. It is not simply a place to visit for a few hours — it is a complete experience filled with joy, elegance, family memories, and world-class hospitality that leaves visitors wanting to return again and again.
Nice park to spend a few hours in, if you have kids, they will love it
This is mainly a theme park with rides geared to children. That said, it’s still worth a visit to stroll around and admire the landscaping and watching the kids wear themselves out. We spent most of the morning there, just walking and watching the other people. We went just before opening and the line was very long, but the gate staff got people in efficiently so we really didn’t have to wait long. If I did it over again, I would time it so I got there at least thirty minutes after the park opens.
A lovely way to spend an evening
We visited in the evening as we'd been told the park is amazing when lit up. It was true...it was absolutely beautiful, and we were so glad we went. We got the park-only ticket which didn't include any rides, which we were glad about because quite a few of the rides (including the main rollercoaster) were closed. I'd recommend checking what rides are open before paying for the all inclusive ticket.
good but pricey for rides
tivoli gardens has a nice old school amusement vibe and the gardens are a nice place to stroll around. it wasnt super crowded on our visit which was a relief but the rides add up quick cost wise. perfect if you wanna chill with some outdoor fun and sncaks tho
A must for a day out
What a great place mixing old and new as well as beautiful landscaped gardens. Plenty of ride choice and not too busy on the day we visited (Sunday in April). The aquarium we didn’t want to leave and the park was stunning to walk round and so clean. Many places to eat and drink and staff so friendly. A must is to be there in the hours of darkness. We left for an hour or so and went back to see the park illuminated- very very pretty. Good value for money and nice touch with two tier pricing of entry only and then ride ticket on top- both really good value for money.
Fabulous day out for everyone
This was such a lovely day out. It feels like a more laid back and quaint version of Disney with something for everyone. We went on a beautiful sunny day and enjoyed sitting outside having a couple of drinks. Would love to go back
A good day out
Had a lovely day out at Tivoli gardens. The only disappointing thing was the realisation that whilst entrance is included in the Copenhagen card, rides are not. So we had to pay £36 per person, as four adults, to go on a few rides which I thought was very expensive. We spent most of the day there and it wasn’t overly busy so the queues weren’t too bad. Really enjoyed the little Hans Christian Andersen ride.
Amusements galore
Known as the Denmark Disneyland or the VinWonders of the North, this place is fun with friends or family. Rides for those looking for activities or food for those interested in a different experience. You’re paying park prices, but everything is clean, full of foliage and offers something for everyone.
Kid friendly
Oldest amusement park in Europe, 1844. Only bought entrance ticket not one for rides or anything else exit. They're free shows on the main stage for kids. Definitely a place for kids 10 and under. Light show over the lake was good. Pass allowed in and out access if you get stamped so I went out for dinner and came back late for the night light show. All the staff were very friendly and helpful.
A magical spot in the city
I visited Tivoli Gardens and honestly it’s such a cool place. It’s right in the middle of the city, but once you’re inside it feels kind of magical, especially with all the lights and gardens.
A good day for all the family
I thought this was nicely priced to be affordable for the family and you can either get a limitless ride band or pay for individual rides, I'd recommend the band if you intend to do more that 5/6 rides which it is easy to do here. There's a good mix of rides for all age groups and it's run very efficiently, on a busy bank holiday the longest we queued was 40 mins and a couple of things we just walked straight on to. We ate at Wagamama, very good, reasonable price and had cake and wine at Cakehagen which was nice but slightly overpriced I felt. It would be better if the lightshow was on earlier, it was 22.30 and we were just too tired to stay around for it after a busy afternoon on the rides. We had a really lovely day here though and it compares favourably with UK parks I'd say.
Great day out
We visited on the opening day 27th March. Two of the bigger rides weren't open and surrounded by boarding. We had booked tickets in advance so entry was quick. If you have booked a ride ticket you have to get a wristband which is scanned at each ride. You can leave the park and return but don't forget to get your wrist stamped if you want to. We spent a few hours there as the sun was out and the flowers smelt lovely, it wasn't too busy and there wasn't really any queues for rides. We left and came back in the evening and it looked a different place at night, it some ways it looked better. We didn't stay for the fireworks as we thought 11.15pm was too late but we did hear and see them from out hotel. This is a no smoking or vaping park which I thought was really good. We all enjoyed our visit and would go again, I'm told Halloween is a really good time to go.
Fun but not all the hype
Great for younger families. Really good atmosphere during off peak hour with not too long waiting time for cues. However many rides were closed due to wind
nice spot but pretty crowded
Went to Tivoli in April and it was fun but really busy. The food stalls had decent options and the gardens were okay for a stroll. Some rides looked fun but I skipped most. Could definitely be better without the crowds. Worth a visit if you don’t mind the hustle.
Tivoli is amazing
In the duration of my trip to Copenhagen i literally toured the whole city but my definite favorite part of the trip was Tivoli so much that i went 3 times!!! it was great and the most amazing thing ever the admission fee was expensive but definiately worth it and the atmosphere was just amazing relaxing in some parts but super fun in others and it was a large crowd at mid-day so i reccomend going as soon as it opens All the Staff there were super helpful and nice And Tivoli is Best for a fun day in Copenhagen
Tivoli Gardens
This was my first experiment of Tivoli I came for a visit before Christmas to Denmark and visited here, I loved it! The lights and the atmosphere amazing! I didn’t do any rides but I did enjoy the experience. I would love to come back in warmer weather and enjoy the gardens in bloom as well. Definitely worth the visit!
Charming at night, fun even without rides
I expected a typical theme park, but it felt more like a beautiful garden with entertainment everywhere. The lighting at night is special and the atmosphere is relaxed. Rides were fun, but I enjoyed the food stalls and walking paths just as much. It can get busy, so evenings on weekdays felt best.
Such fun
Lovely gardens, lots of food options and bars. Great fun to go on the old fashioned rollercoasters. Lovey to stay until the night and see the lights.
Lot of fun fun fun
From what I had read beforehand, I knew it was a large place, but experiencing it in person was still quite surprising. There are plenty of activities to keep you busy all day — so be prepared!
October at Tivoli
Tivoli was utterly perfect in October and decked out for Halloween. I took my 4 year old there and he had a blast on the rides, especially the boats. We also loved the corn maze. He still talks about the rides and getting candy floss (and made a Lego interpretation of a stand when we got home). Oh, and the animal carousel is beyond amazing - the animals are beautifully crafted. I really enjoyed the decorations and all the pumpkins throughout the park. There were so many special places to capture family memories.
Make sure you stay till dark!
Worth a visit. I shopped around online and booked our tickets that way. Saved a couple of pounds so worth shopping around. Lots of restaurants and shops to visit, plus various rides for those who enjoy them. Make sure you stay long enough for it to go dark. It is beautiful at night.
Nice place, a must visit!
We spent an afternoon/evening here on arrival in Copenhagen. Reasonably price entry, we didn't go on any of the rides we just walked around and experienced it all. We had churros from one of the stands, they were amazing. Found staff to be helpful and friendly. Lovely light displays and little shops for the Christmas spirit.

Central amuzment park
This amuzment park is locted close to main station in Copenhagen. I visited it in december holiday season. Here you can find.many thriling rides. But at this time it was decorated with many lights.
Great Christmas day.
We went on Christmas day and it was packed. It is in the city, so an easy walk from most hotels. This park was stunning. Everywhere had trees and lights. There were loads of small huts selling food and gifts. Even though it’s a theme park, there were quieter spots all over. You have to pay an entry ticket and ride ticket. You can get a package which is cheaper if you do more than two rides. If you only buy entry ticket you can pay by card at ride but it costs about £10 a ride. If you want a restaurant you should book in advance. Overall, this place was magical.
Jul i Tivoli – could not feel my feet, but I’ve never felt my stomach this much
Tivoli is one of the world’s oldest amusement parks. People say that like it’s automatically a good thing. I’m not sure it is when you’re talking about electronics and safety. Old usually means “has seen some things” and not in a good way. That said, I wouldn’t want a brand-new park either, where nothing’s been tested and bolts are still figuring out what their job is. Ideally, you want something in the middle. Old enough to know better, young enough to still work. The first ride I tried was the old wooden roller coaster. Straight away, too much wood. Wood and a damp Danish climate don’t feel like natural friends. By the time I got on it, I’d already been on two trains to get there, just to end up on an even smaller train. The bloke operating it put on ear defenders before we set off. That’s not comforting. If a plank flies off the track, I’d like him to hear it. Tivoli was also decorated for Christmas. I’ve heard Denmark is one of the biggest producers of Christmas trees in Europe, and I’ve got a good idea where most of them end up. Trees everywhere. Lights everywhere. Decorations everywhere. All I could think about was where they store it all for the rest of the year. There must be a massive shed somewhere, just full of baubles, waiting. Meanwhile, I hadn’t worn enough clothes and couldn’t feel my toes, which didn’t help with the thinking. I ate at something called the Food Hall. It reminded me of my old school canteen. Same sort of setup, same confusion. The only real difference was that the people cooking didn’t smell of cigarettes and drains. The food was fine, but maybe not ideal preparation for what came next. After that, I went on the Milky Way ride. I assumed the tall roller coaster would give me a nice view of Copenhagen’s beautiful architecture. Instead, it was so fast that all I saw was the inside of my eyelids. I immediately regretted eating beforehand. The rest of the day was mainly spent keeping track of the nearest toilet, just in case. All that said, I would like to see Tivoli again. Maybe without the decorations. And without minus degrees. Preferably when I can feel my feet and trust my stomach a bit more.
Very pretty after dark
I decided to visit the gardens after dark to appreciate the illuminations and they were very good! Many trees were covered in little lights and all the buildings were outlined in lights. The fountain display in the central lake was to the music of The Nutcracker and involved floodlights, flames and lasers all adding to the experience. The Christmas Stalls were rather expensive concentrating mainly on jewellery, porcelain, etc. and the restaurants, etc. were all full. I didnt go on any of the rides as you needed a special and more expensive ticket for that and the ordinary admission ticket was DKK 200. Several areas have steps therefore those with walking difficulties should be careful.
So much to do and rides for everyone to enjoy.
We had a lovely time here with awesome rides for our 13 year old son to enjoy. Great variety of food available. The lights are beautiful when it goes dark.
Beautiful in Christmas season
Very beautiful gardens especially decorated for Christmas. We saw a show and wandered around. Rides are expensive and didn’t look especially exciting so we skipped those. It gives a fun feeling to the whole city having an amusement park in the middle of it.
Amazing
Amazing Christmas markets and rides Lovely atmosphere, nice selection of food abs drinks. We spent about 5 hours there abs had a great time. So much effort put it’s it’s great . The kids absolutely loved the whole place and especially the rides
Christmas
If you want to experience the magic of Christmas then a walk around Tivoli Gardens is a must. The lighting inside this park is wonderful and once inside it is no more expensive to eat and drink than the rest of Copenhagen. We just purchased the park tickets but the rides looked fun and these can be either paid to use individually once inside or via a park and unlimited ride ticket.
Best Christmas Event
Tivoli was the most magical Christmas destination. It is full of everything Christmas. It’s traditional and authentic. It avoid commercialism and encapsulates Christmas perfectly. It’s not overly expensive, the food is delicious, drinks are lovely. The whole vibe is just magical. Christmas music playing everywhere and even the Home Alone soundtrack which made the Christmas vibe even more nostalgic. If you are in Copenhagen at Christmas time, Tivoli is and ‘Must’.
Probably should visit if there
We booked in advance. Not the cheapest but then how many other Christmas events in the UK charge similar amounts?? We only had the park access only ticket as didn't want to go on any of the rides. Queue to get in was very long but did move relatively quickly (we went in about 17.30) and waited c 15-20 mins. We wandered rather than following a map. so may have missed some bits but all very nicely lit up. Usual food / drinks stalls where you pay Christmas / capital city / tourist prices, but your call. We did try and watch the light show around the lake from a restaurant but didnt seem to be that impressive for the 10 mins it was on.
Beautiful after Christmas trip!
Absolutely loved our trip to Copenhagen Tivoli Garden! We enjoyed the Christmas market, some wonderful food and warm drink! Would highly recommend adding this to your bucket list!
Gorgeous theme park
You can pay for entry separately from having to pay for rides. I would just buy a ride pass instead of paying for rides one at a time because it really does save money and is worth the cost.
Magical Christmas experience for the whole family -
A fabulous experience for the Christmas Market magical season, we arrived at lunchtime on a weekday & it wasn’t too crowded- did a few rides and went for lunch, then we booked to see the Snow Queen Ballet which was just stunning, loved it and noticeably busier when we came out again, thankfully we’d booked dinner at a restaurant on site to extend our day- yes it’s expensive, but it’s a magical experience and beautiful at nighttime with all the lights. You need to suspend your cynicism and embrace your inner child and enjoy the moment- we went passed on Saturday and it was rammed so try and go during the week if you can.
One of my favourite places in the world.
One of my favourite places in the world. Went loads as a child living in Copenhagen, but it was extra special bringing my own family back to share the experience. Yes, we paid for the unlimited rides, but it was definitely worth saving up to do it. There were almost no queues either so our timing was impeccable. I can't really add much more than all the thousands of other reviews, but it really is unmissable.
A 'must do' when in Copenhagen
Old school 'theme park', in the middle of Copenhagen so access very easy. Staff were friendly and efficient. Went during Christmas stalls display, very pretty. Rides were a mix of easy kids rides up to extreme thrill rides, so caters for all. Food choice was excellent but like the rest of Copenhagen, very expensive.
Brilliant day
Was really impressed overall. The rides were really good with a great variety. Lots suitable for children and different types of rides. We went on most of them and found them all to be very good and enjoyable. The queues weren’t to long which was positive to. It was so lovely to go and see all the Christmas lights and scenery. Great for photos. Lots of food options . We were there from 12:00 till 21:00 and there was already something to do and we found it well worth the money. We did get the ride pass as well which we thought was definitely worth the money so we would recommend that. If you’re in Copenhagen definitely go and you will not be disappointed definitely around Christmas.
Amazing nostalgia theme park!
Yes this theme park is old and remind you of those back in the 90s. Does that make it bad? Not at all, if anything the nostalgia hit makes it better than today’s parks. Amazing place! Particularly with the Christmas regalia up! It’s also pretty much in the centre of town too!
Having doubts? You can cancel this booking up to 24 hours in advance for free.
