Interessant museum.

Eigenlijk voor iedereen die als buitenlander graag in Zweden komt een must om dit museum te bezoeken. Mooie en duidelijke exposities over het ontstaan en de geschiedenis van Zweden.

Interessante beleving.

Er is veel te zien uit de oudheid / vikingtijd. Je loopt via verschillende zalen langs voorwerpen en beelden uit de verschillende periodes uit de Zweedse geschiedenis. Je persoonlijke spullen en jassen laat je comfortabel achter in de gratis kluisjes bij de ingang.Entree is GRATIS. Restaurant is niet goedkoop. De koffie is filterkoffie en staat in kannen op een warmhoudplaat. Niet mijn voorkeur voor een lekkere kop koffie.

Magnificant museum, allow enough time

I let myself down and did not allow enough time at this magnificant museum, we stayed three hours I needed at least another hour. The exhibits and information were captivating, the history of the Vikings, life in Medieval times, Medieval costumes and so much more. The museum was never busy during our time which made it pleasurable.

Interesting taste of Sweden

There is a LOT of historical information in this museum which can be seen chronologically. We started with the earliest people first - which is what I would recommend. As an English speaker, there were several places where not all the information was easily accessible. There are some English summaries on paper in the entrances to each new area or room. Look for them. Some of the museum's rooms had electronic screens that one could read in either English or Swedish by tapping the upper right hand corner to change the language. There is a fun area for kids to play, a small gift shop and an inner courtyard to sit in on a sunny day.

Great way for Viking buffs to spend a couple of hours

Our family really enjoyed our visit here. We took our time exploring the Viking World exhibit, which had a wide range of artifacts and was easily accessible in both Swedish and English. We appreciated their multi-sensory approach, with the ability to smell typical scents of the period. Also noticed that quite a few of the artifacts had models on display with braille explanations so that visually impaired visitors could interact with them. Also appreciated the explanations around how the Vikings interacted with the Sami and how their religions and stories intersected. We would have liked to explore a VR exhibit around the stave churches, but it wasn't operational on the day we visited. All in all, a good way to spend a snowy and cold afternoon in Stockholm.

Var där hela dagen, missade solen. Fanns väldigt mycket information att ta in, nästan för mycket. Vikinga utställningen var utöver det vanliga, rekommenderas starkt.

Worth a visit

Great Museum covering Swedish history. The Viking World Exhibition is well worth a visit. Not all exhibits are in English but there are handy guides dotted around the place and the audio tour may also cover this (we didn't use it). Was quiet on a Sunday and it is a little off the beaten track, but within easy walking distance of most places and there is a T stop nearby. Suspect it loses out a little in terms of footfall to the Vasa Museum but don't let that put you off. It is worth the effort.

Idéal refuge sous la pluie; accueil chaleureux à l'entrée (c'est assez rare). Et cela vaut le coup pour les nombreuses pièces exposées. on parcourt le musée en suivant les dates inscrites au sol et en admirant certaines pièces exposées. Peu d'explication en anglais, mais c'est effectivement le musée historique de la Suède. Accueil sympa au bar juste avant la fermeture.

A real fun place

A really interesting place, with a delightful range of activities that both adults and younger can enjoy. We had great fun, from the standard Viking displays to archery firing! We even learned stuff

EXCELLENT MUSEUM

The museum is excellent with detailed displays with amazing artifacts. The Viking section in particular is outstanding. That being said the Medieval art hall is stunning with a great collection of beautiful pieces. Our guide was Julia who did a great job of explaining the Viking history. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and highly recommend it.

Excellent intro to Swedish history

Excellent museum of Swedish history. The City Card covered the cost of admission. We took in exhibits on gold archaeological artifacts found in the country; on the Vikings; and on the history of Sweden. We spent 3-4 hours, and could easily have doubled that if our feet could have held up. Exhibits are all very accessible for English speakers (or readers), and provide great multi-media information on the given topics. The museum cafe had a good variety of food and drink. Definitely worth a visit when in Stockholm!

Essential

Simply a world class museum. The quality of artefacts and their presentation is not to be missed! The atmosphere is inviting and relaxing, and the staff extremely pleasant. The restaurant serves excellent food in a delightful setting. Overall a perfect place to spend all or part of a day in any weather.

Surprise of the Trip

This was the surprise of our trip to Stockholm. We almost skipped it because we were tired. But you must go if only to see the Viking Gold Collection . It was fantastic ! It reminded me of the Museo del Oro in Bogota but this collection was much bigger. If you don’t have time for the entire collection just see the Gold. To me it was one of the high points of Stockholm. It is no longer free.

Espectacular museo de la historia Sueca.

El museo Historika, es un museo que recorre toda la historia Sueca, desde la prehistoria, los Vikingos, edad media y moderna. Tiene gran cantidad de piezas. Es muy recomendable visitarlo. Tips: -Se puede comprar online la entrada, pero en general no hay problema con comprarla en persona, ya que no es tan concurrido.

Add this museum to your must see list for Stockholm!

This is a very good museum. The amount of treasure exhibited from all the hordes uncovered across Sweden is overwhelming. All the finds are laid out to give great insight into the Viking era. We also really liked the timeline segment of the museum that walked you through the formation of Sweden, its critical events and key artifacts to the present day. The medieval exhibits on the massacre and on witchcraft hysteria were also very good. Highly recommend!

A veery modern and professional museum

I went there specifically to see the Viking display which was highly entertaining. I had time to see the treasury, which was less impressive unfortunately, and the temporary display about the Swedish Witch Hunts in the 17th century. This display was very graphic but was mainly reading signs. High points for effort but not so interesting as the Viking display.

Tout est merveilleusement mis en scène et BEAU

Absolument incontournable pour qui veut se plonger dans l'histoire et la culture suédoise sans même s'en apercevoir tout en se plongeant dans un bain d'art et de design. Il suffit pour cela de tourner les yeux en tous sens et de se laisser porter par la muséographie : tout est merveilleusement mis en scène et BEAU ! Bravo !

Very Special Museum

I really loved this museum, it was special, and I have seen MANY museums! The gold collection was extraordinary, the year numbers on the floor in the other section tracing the history, was unique and fun. the Viking area was also special. There was room to contemplate and breath. Great job!

Det mesta var mycket intressant

Jag spenderade cirka 4 timmar på Historiska Museet. De första 3 timmarna var sjukt intressanta men sista timmen så tappade jag lite energin. Det var ett väldigt stort museum, kanske lite för stort om man vill läsa varje skylt. Det fanns en del för ekonomisk historia som jag tyckte var intressant rakt igenom. Sen fanns det en del med medeltid, svenska kungar, världskrigen och fram till nutid som överlag var väldigt intressant. Sen fanns det en "guld-avdelning" med smycken och dyrbarheter från svensk historia, den här delen tyckte jag var minst intressant. När jag var där fanns också en temporär vikingautställning som var väldigt stor. Den var intressant men väldigt stor och "nördig". Överlag väldigt bra.

Incredibile

Abbiamo visitato questo museo durante il nostro viaggio a Stoccolma. Nello stesso complesso, esistono due musei, quello di Storia Svedese e quello di Economia. Per gusto ed interesse personale (e anche per il poco tempo) abbiamo visitato solo il museo di Storia Svedese che abbiamo trovato molto interessante in ogni sua parte. Impressionante la Golden Room e la sezione dedicata ai Vichinghi. Ci è piaciuto molto anche il gift shop accanto alla biglietteria. Ne consigliamo la visita.

good place to visit

this place is amazing it is well known in stockolm as the best place to visit for viking objects things include areas to smell things they grew or imported such as cumin peper chili basil fish medicine and lots more they also have state of the art things ie a vr headset showing what homes would have looked like

A NEW PERSPECTIVE

The museum develops the theme of Sweden's historical progress through to modern times. The main attraction for me was the Viking World .It was detailed with so many objects from the period which gave you a completely new perspective of the Vikings & the way they lived.. The Gold Room is the icing on the cake - so many Viking treasure hoards have been found mainly in Gotland which show the trading & craft world of the Vikings. I bought the Viking World book after our lunch in the cafe. A wonderful museum and a delightful experience.

Museo maravilloso. Te muestra muchos objetos de la época Vikinga y también de la historia de Suecia. Muy entretenido. Mejor para adultos y público adolescentes. El museo dispone de un espacio central dedicado a actividades para niños. Muy buena experiencia.

OMG - they have an awesome Viking exhibit

Having taken several history classes and hearing about Viking ear spoons, combs and tweezers last semester I was VERY excited to see them in the exhibit here. I had a total geek-out moment. While the Viking exhibit is small, it was good. The rest of the museum was interesting and was well done. Good section for kids too.

Great Viking exhibit!

This is a great museum for Viking History. Although we had just traveled through several countries with Viking heritage, this museum was the most complete. We chose this one over The Viking Museum because it had actual Viking artifacts. It is amazing how far they traveled and how much has been recovered. We went to the museum mainly to see the Viking exhibit and the Gold Room, but spent most of our time with the Vikings. I'm sure the rest of the museum is just as amazing, but we did not have time for it. My husband can only manage 90 minutes at a museum at best.

L'histoire de la Suède sans parler que des vikings

Le musée est bien organisé, avec la possibilité de payer en espèces (assez rare dans le coin)... Il y a une légende des objets en anglais et en suédois. On y aborde les premières traces d'occupation humaine en Scandinavie, la période viking, les époques de la Renaissance avant de s'arrêter à la fin des années 90. Des petits espaces permettent aux enfants et aux personnes réduites de faire une pause... Des expositions permettent d'aborder plus précisément certaines périodes...A voir aussi la chambre d'Or. Bien prévoir 2h pour apprécier ce musée !

Viking expedition was very detailed and expansive.

People told us that the Viking exhibition at the Historic Museum was better than the Viking Museum so we checked it out and it was pretty neat to see all they had. We spent about an hour and half and probably needed another hour there. If you have time, include it in your itinerary. The rest of the museum especially the Gold room looked amazing.

Must see!

We stayed a couple of hours and I don’t think we saw everything! They had free lockers for coats and other items. It’s a must for cold winter days. The exhibits were very detailed. You could spend as much or as little time as you liked looking at the descriptions of all the items. Our 16 year old was free admission.

Great Viking exhibition and tour

We went on an included 45 minute tour of the Viking exhibition, which was fantastic- learnt a lot. The Viking exhibition itself was 5 star, all information was in English as well as Swedish. Lots of other interesting exhibitions, though you had to carry round a copy of the English translations of the exhibition text, and there was a huge amount of text in it. 4 star for the other exhibitons, but 150 SEK for it all was great. Stayed around 2.5 hrs (including the tour), could have stayed a bit longer if it hadn't been almost closing time

Musée intéressant

Musée très intéressant, notamment la partie sur les vikings. Par contre un peu dommage que tout ne soit pas traduit en anglais juste en dessous de l’objet, il faut aller chercher la traduction sur un élément à part.

Il medioevo a Stoccolma in un bel museo e per lo piu' gratuito. Reperti autentici come manufatti e riproduzioni fatte benissimo per rivivere un esperienza del passato. Consigliato😏

Spændende museum der passer til børn og voksne

Spændende museum, hvor du/I for Sveriges historie i store træk fra jægerstenalder til i dag. Især vikingeudstillingen er god. Udstillingerne har lidt tendens til vise for mange genstande; til gengæld er beskrivelserne præcise, informative og gennemtænkte. Dette museum bør du se, når du er i Stockholm

Trevligt museum!

Väldigt inbjudande och intressant museum. Vi såg först utställningen i Guldrummet. Otroligt många föremål! Sen lämnade vi museet för att äta lunch. Väl tillbaka tittade vi på Forntiden. Spännande att lära sig mer om olika personers liv. Vikingautställningen gick vi med guide. Tillbringade många timmar totalt på museet.

Finalmente un museo moderno!

Ovviamente quando dico moderno non intendo museo di arte contemporanea ma l'allestimento, che ho trovato finalmente e veramente moderno, sia per la disposizione delle sale e dei pezzi che per l'utilizzo intelligente di mezzi multimediali. Interessante, ricco (ricordatevi che stiamo parlando del periodo storico che ha portato la Svezia ai nostri giorni) con una punta di eccellenza rappresentata dalla sezione sul popolo vichingo, una vera e propria perla. Ricordatevi che nei sotterranei c'è anche una Camera del tesoro che merita di essere vista.

Intressant, mycket att se och GOD mat i restaurangen

Omfattande och fin utställning om vikingarna - mycket att se och ta in. Såg även guldrummet men hann tyvärr inte med utställningarna en trappa upp. Vi fick nya krafter efter den väldigt goda maten i restaurangen och den underbara miljön i trädgården på innergården - rekommenderas varmt att ta en matbit där!

Da non perdere per gli amanti della storia

Un museo storico davvero molto interessante, pieno di cose da vedere. Il cortile interno è adibito ad attività per i più piccoli, con ricostruzioni di vita medioevale. L'esposizione nelle sale è estremamente razionale, con reperti davvero impressionanti dell'era Vichinga e del medioevo, come i resti dei soldati morti nella battaglia di Wisby. Tenuto benissimo e ben organizzato, con armadietti guardaroba e gift-shop, è facilmente raggiungibile con la metro e, cosa non tracurabile, è gratuito. Io l'ho visitato in due giornate distinte, godendomelo in tutta calma.

Musée intéressant sur la partie vicking

Le plus intéressant de ce musée est très probablement la partie Vicking, bien qu’il y manque probablement des tableaux ou scènes, qui permettraient de mieux appréhender leur façon de vivre. De fait il est probablement préférable d’aller au musée vicking si l’on a de enfants L’audio guide est un plus car beaucoup d’informations sont apportées, mais il perturbe la visite car les commentaires sont peu souvent en rapport avec les objets affichés.

Musée payant

Maintenant le musée est payant 150Sek comme celui des prix Nobel . Dommage!! Il faut absolument parler anglais pour avoir toutes les infos.

Ein schön und liebevoll gemachtes Museum. Den Audioguide in Deutsch hätten wir uns sparen können. Besonders die Wikinger Ausstellung ist interessant.

Una perla olvidada

Cuando se viaja a Estocolmo, se tiene que visitar uno o más museos. Muchas personas visitan el museo de ABBA o el museo de Vasa, pero no mucha gente visita el museo de Historia situado en Östermalm. Lo visité en un día de entre semana en diciembre, era por la tarde. Mi primer pensamiento fue, este es un lugar acogedor y hermoso. Recomendaría hacer una vista aquí durante un día de entre semana para tener tiempo suficiente para explorar las exposiciones. La exposición sobre los Vikingos era unauno de laslos mejores exhibiciones que he visitado. Hay tantos artefactos, textos y cosas interactivas para hacer que quieras aprender más. Es excelente para las personas viejas y jóvenes, para las los personas que les encanta la historia y personas que no tienen conocimiento sobre ellos lo. ¡Si te encanta el arte viejo, visita la exhibición sobre el arte medieval! ¡Si te gusta mirar cosas que brillan, bueno la sala del oro es el lugar perfecto para visitar! Me asombré por la cantidad allí y todas las cosas son lindas. El museo estaba muy limpio, pero podría ser porque he estado allí prácticamente solo. No tuve tiempo para comer en el restaurante, sin embargo la comida parecía deliciosa. Una cosa divertida sobre el museo de historia, es que está en eles en el mismo edificio que como el museo económico. ¿Por qué no visitar dos museos en un día? Casi se me olvida escribir la cosa mejor, ¡visitar el museo es gratis! Al menos durante 2022, leí que en 2023 debes pagar para visitar. La entrada será 150 SEK para todos los mayores de 19 años. Si uno es menor de 19 años la visita es gratuita. Y los miércoles una visita es gratuita para todos. Vichinghi a piacimento, ma anche altro

Museo storico molto bello. Al piano terra è allestita una sezione di storia vichinga veramente spettacolare, anche con supporti multimediali, si imparano veramente tantissime cose nuove soprattutto sui norreni e la vita quotidiana (interessantissimi inrepoerti sulla progressiva penetrazione del cristianesimo). Al piano interrato la famosa 'camera d'oro' piena di reperti preziosi di molte epoche (fra cui gli stampi vichinghi per elmi con le scene dei guerrieri berserkr e degli orsi). Al piano superiore molto spettacolare l'esposizione di opere devozionali medievali di legno Molto molto bello e bene organizzato. Gratis l'ingresso (ma se ho ben capito dal 2023 ci sarà un biglietto).

Museo di storia svedese

Museo che ripercorre la storia della Svezia, con un percorso che scandisce visivamente gli anni a cui si riferiscono le varie esposizioni. Molto bella la collezione di arte sacra medievale che comprende molte sculture lignee, pale d’altare e crocifissi. La sezione più visitata è quella dedicata ai Vichinghi, allestita in modo molto appariscente e che si avvale anche di postazioni multimediali. Il museo è piuttosto grande e richiede del tempo a disposizione per poterlo vedere nella sua interezza, la sua visita risulta comunque gradevole e per nulla noiosa, vista la varietà delle esposizioni. Il museo si trova ad Ostermalm, vicino al ponte che conduce all’isola di Djurgarden e quasi di fronte alla Oscarskyrkan. L’ingresso è gratuito.

Sveriges mest omfattende historiske museum

Historiska Museet er Sveriges største historiske museum. Det er hele Sveriges historie som museets forskellige udstillinger fortæller om. Indtil 1934 var det en del af Nationalmuseum, men blev derefter udskilt som et selvstændigt museum. Den nuværende bygning på Narvavägen, hvor museet har hjemsted sammen med museet for økonomi, blev opført 1934 – 1939. I udstillingen der handler om Sveriges historie fra 1000-tallet og fremefter er der på gulvet en tidslinje med samtlige årstal, som perioden indbefatter. Ud for visse årstal nævnes kort en vigtig begivenhed i landets historie, og der er genstande og artefakter, der belyser emnerne. Det er en både interessant og overskuelig måde at fortælle 1000 års historie på, og denne afdeling i museet er meget spændende at gå på opdagelse i. Vikingerne har deres egen udstilling, og man kan også besøge guldrummet, et imponerende skatkammer med fantastiske sager i guld, der er gravet op af den svenske muld. Meget imponerende er også samlingen af middelalderlig kirkelig kunst fra omkring 1300 og nogle hundrede år fremefter. Her er altertavler, statuer, relieffer, døbefonde, sarkofager og meget andet. Alt sammen skabt af lokale håndværkere og kunstnere til kirker og klostre rundt omkring i landet. Skal man se alle udstillinger i Historiska Museet grundigt, skal man afsætte to eller tre timer til besøget.

Hvis du elsker vikingetid, er du kommet til det rette museum! 10/10

Udstillingen om vikingetiden er klart en af Skandinaviens bedste. Jeg er selv historiker og museolog og har særlig erfaring med jernalder/vikingetid. Udstillingen er moderne, demokratisk og veldokumenteret. Der er formidling til børn og voksne, nørder og nybegyndere. (Og så er det endda gratis!!) Museet rummer generelt mange fine skatte, og appelerer til mange sanser.

Tolles Museum für echte Wikingerfans

Tolles Museum für Wikingerfunde. Vieles aus der wichtigen Wikingerstätte Birka wird hier ausgestellt. Die Funde sind gut beschrieben und können via Monitor vergrößert werden, nicht nur für Nerds gut aufgebaut. Am Boden kann man unterschiedliche Themen zuordnen: das Leben der Frau, die Götter, Handwerker und noch mehr. Eine kleine Ausstellung über die Eisenzeit im Allgemeinen schließt sich an und im Innenhof gibt es im Sommer Aktivitäten für Kinder von „echten“ Wikingern. Und alles kostenlos. Für die Erwachsenen gibt es noch eine einstündige Führung, die vorher gebucht werden muss. Für mich das beste Museum in Stockholm!
