Heel veel te zien!

Heel erg veel om te zien. Bijna te veel want na een tijdje was onze concentratie wel weg. De Viking Sourceress tentoonstelling echt een aanrader. Heel mooi gemaakt en even wat anders dan alleen de standaard vitrines. Eten in het cafe ook lekker, tussendoor hebben we daar even heerlijk gezeten. Wij hebben niet alles bekeken omdat het simpelweg zo veel was. Wel een aanrader en waar voor je geld.

Wonderbare ervaring.

Genoten van het groot assortiment aan geschiedkundige archeologische vondsten! 👍🏼 Het restaurant is zeker aan te bevelen!

Prachtig groot museum

Het is een zeer uitgebreid museum met een enorme collectie. Echter was de uitgestippelde route niet prettig. Het ging alle kanten op en echt het gevoel dat we diverse zalen hebben gemist. Zo is de derde verdieping niet eens aangegeven op de map. De gratis audioguide, met qr code, werkte niet en dit was een probleem met android software. Je moet hier meerdere uren voor uittrekken. Ook erg leuk met kinderen.

De moeite waard

Leuke tentoonstelling over oa de vikingen. De geschiedenis van de verschillende periodes van de mensheid. Erg mooi opgezet.

Prachtig, echt de moeite waard

Geweldig museum. Echt de moeite waard. Zowel het Deens cultuurhistorische gedeelte alsmede de tentoonstelling over de vikingen. Wij hielden het na dik 2,5 uur voor gezien maar je kunt er goed een hele ochtend of middag voor inplannen.

Mooi, groot, interessant maar te veel spullen.

Uren heb je nodig voor dit museum. Je zou er een hele dag kunnen verblijven als je alles zou willen zien. Het bevat een zeer complete collectie van oude attributen van over de hele wereld, niet enkel Denemarken. Prachtige stukken zijn te bewonderen. Ook is de informatie bij de attributen vaak goed en bondig omschreven. De opzet is voor ons Nederlanders denk ik wat ouderwets. Een gigantische hoeveelheid attributen zijn uitgestald en maar heel weinig dioramas. Nederlandse musea hebben dit een hele tijd geleden aangepast. Hier is juist een groot deel van de collectie in de kelder opgeslagen en meer aandacht besteed aan topstukken en vaak levensechte dioramas. Na het 200ste zwaard heb ik het wel gezien, zo ook met vele andere telkens terugkerende attributen, uit met weer een ander tijdperk maar met weinig uiterlijk verschil. Helaas vond ik ook de Viking tentoonstelling wat saai en niet heel indrukwekkend. Dat hadden ze in het land van de Vikingen beter kunnen doen. Hoe dan ook, het museum is zeker een bezoek waard!

Waaaw! Ik heb er geen woorden voor!

Tussen het uitchecken van het hotel en vertrekken naar de luchthaven hadden we nog 2 uur vrije tijd, dus waarom dan niet het national museem bezoeken? Woow, achteraf bekijken was 2 uur veel te kort! Een ganse dag kan je hier gemakkelijk vertoeven. En hoe spectaculair was alles hier opgevat? We begonnen met de grondverdieping en toen ik de kalen eerste 2 zalen bezocht dacht ik van "pffft, hopelijk zijn die 2 uren snel om", maar dan werden de zalen interessanter en interessanter, mooier ingekleed en na de ganse beneden toer wilden we absoluut naar het volgende verdiep gaan. Dit verdiep liet me elk moment met open mond staan kijken: opnieuw was de start saai, kruisen, hier, jezusbeelden daar, maar plots ging de zaal over in een renaissance decor en was het of ik in Rosenborg stond, en dan was er plots een zijzaaltje waarin je in een volledige houten huis stond uit de middeleeuwen (muffe geur inclusief). Gewoon - BAM- alsof je in een tijdsmachine zat. Een beetje verder, opnieuw - BAM- het plafond was plots 3x zo hoog en je stond precies in een kerk. Ik heb nog nooit zo'n spectaculair museum gezien en had spijt dat we na 2 uur het museum moesten verlaten. Dus lieve lezers: laat je niet misleiden door eerste foutieve indrukken: dit is echt spectaculair en speelt in een absolute top categorie vergeleken met het Glyptoteket museum.

You need many hours to do it justice

Beyond doubt, a superb place to visit. Thought we’d spend an hour or two and ended up there for almost 5hrs. So much to see and so interesting. The sorceress exhibition was very good and you walked through with earphones that talked you through an adventure and you really felt part of it

Great Museum in Copenhagen

It is very interesting and has a lot of rooms/exhibitions to learn from. It took 2 hours and a half to visit it but requires more time to have a better observation of what they have. Children under 18 are not charge and it is a walking distance from the main plaza. We recommend it.

Fint museum, hvis du vil kende lidt til Danmarks historie

Besøgte museet med en skoleklase. Det er stort og derfor skal man på forhånd vælge, hvad man vil se. Men det er oplagt at se kendte nationale relikvier som guldhornene (Kopi), Egtved-pigen eller Solvognen. Gratis wifi, fin cafe og museumsbutik på stedet.

Ein Tag im Museum? Überhaupt kein Problem!

Ein Tag im Museum? Hier kein Thema: über drei Etagen kann man eintauchen in die Geschichte des Menschen, Eindrücke nordischer Völker und deren Leben, bis in die Neuzeit. Interessante Zusatzausstellungen zum Thema Geld und nordische Götter runden den Besuch ab. Auch das Café ist sehr nett und lädt ein, sich mal kurz auszuruhen und für den weiteren Tag zu verschnaufen. Mitten in der Stadt gut zu erreichen, auch für Kinder gibt es viel zu entdecken… Rundum ein gelungener Besuch! Zeit etwa drei bis vier Stunden…

Très beaux objets

Le musée national de Copenhague offre une collection permanente et des expositions temporaires. Le prix d'entrée est de 150 DKK ou inclus dans la copenhagen card (CPH). Réparties sur plusieurs étages et plusieurs bâtiments contigus, les collections sont diverse set variées avec de nombreux chefs-d'œuvre. On a, entre autres, la préhistoire et Antiquité danoises, le Moyen-Âge au Danemark (dont les Vikings), la Renaissance au Danemark, l'histoire moderne du Danemark (1660-2000), les antiquités égypto-gréco-romaines, de l'ethnographie avec ses trésors, une partie dédiée aux monnaies et médailles et une partie plus ludique, pour les enfants notamment. Les expositions temporaires étaient éclectiques et sur différents sujets dont les sorciers viking, l'arctique, l'argent et ce qui tourne autour (on peut même toucher un lingot d'or et le soulever !), les colonies danoises, les premiers Hommes. Nous avons passé 2 heures dans le musée mais il est possible d'y passer beaucoup plus de temps si vous prenez le temps de tout explorer. Ne manquez pas les pièces uniques telles que le chaudron de Gundestrup, la pierre runique de Kingigtorssuaq, le vase de Skarpsalling, la femme d'Huldremose, le char de Dejbjerg et le char solaire de Trundholm. C'est également dans ce musée que sont exposés (et qu'ont été analysés) les objets trouvés dans la tombe de la fille d'Egtved. Ces objets sont rares et précieux et certains ont une valeur historique et ethnologique inestimables. Le personnel est sympa et souriant.

Good museum, you could be there all day!

We had some time to kill before our flight and this came highly recommended, it reviews well. It's an entire day worth of entertainment, although we had 2 hours to kill we could've spent all day there! All very clean and everyone is friendly, plenty of toilets, free lockers. All very interesting and a wide range of information available.

A must visit in Copenhagen

A great museum to visit, if not a bit overwhelming for one visit. I went just as it opened and it was fairly quiet, but it picked up as I was there for around two, maybe two and a half hours. An amazing selection of periods and locations to browse, including a 'Peoples of the Earth' exhibit focusing on native people across the world. There's also a dedicated ancient floor with Greek, Roman and Egyptian artifacts, and of course Danish history, with a great amount of medieval and early modern collections. I definetely think this museum would be served better with multiple visits, focusing on specific floors/exhibits than trying to get all done in one day as I did.

Artifact museum, not a story museum

Exactly what you would expect of a national museum. Lots of information and lots of artifacts. I think the better way to experience this kind of museum is try go multiple times, picking out a subject or floor to really try digest because there is far too much to take on in one visit. There is plenty to see but this can be slightly overwhelming. There was a wonderful exhibit while we attended about Viking sorceresses which was visually stunning and very engaging. This is more what we personally prefer out of a museum, more focus and a connecting story to keep you engaged.

Museo nazionale di storia

E' il grande museo nazionale di storia che parte dal paleolitico e arriva fino agli anni 2000. Molto ben organizzato per periodo storico, decisamente interessanti per me che non le conoscevo, la parte relativa alle colonie danesi in giro per il mondo. Ospita anche esposizioni temporanee. Prendetevi circa 3 ore perchè è davvero immenso se volete visitarlo tutto.

Although it is quite warm particularly in the summer, this is a terrific museum with the exhibit on Danish history being particularly interesting. For those with a pension for Viking history or who like to collect needlepoint pillows this place is a must go.

Very good experience

Myself and my husband visited the museum and it had lots of fascinating things to see and do from all over the world. We spent about 4 hours here too so it was definitely great value for money.

Things to do (and not) in Copenhagen

1) Cash is king (except in Copenhagen). No need to carry large sums of cash. 500 DKK (or 500 SEK notes, for that matter) notes will not be exchanged in the UK at the currency exchange places. 2)Many museums are closed on Monday, so I would advise arriving on a Monday. 3)In late September, many outdoor activities are closed for the "season" Note: I'm Chinese-American and like to try Asian foods throughout the world. I have had Pho from Hanoi to France, and definitely tried it in Scandinavia. 4)Pho (a typical Vietnamese noodle soup dish, is "Scandinavian-ized". The broth is authentic and good, but the choice of meats in minimal or non-existent. 5)Chinese food is the same. Good, but expensive for what you're getting 6)Do try the cheese. It's delicious! 7)The museums are AWESOME. I visited the Copenhagen Museum, the Danish National Museum, the Denmark Viking Museum, and the MACA museum. 8)Eat herring at one of the local restaurants. 9)a one hour boat cruise or one of the hop-on, hop-off busses are a great way to start your introduction to Copenhagen

Visita al Museo Nazionale della Danimarca.

Se visitare Copenaghen una metà interessante è il museo nazionale della Danimarca. La visita a mio avviso per essere fatta in modo esaustivo necessiterebbe di tutto l' orario di apertura ovvero dalle 10.00 alle 17.00.L'esposizione è divisa per periodi storici partendo dal basso con la preistoria a salire sino alla Danimarca in pratica dei giorni nostri.All'ultimo piano vi è anche una interessante sezione dedicata all' arte egizia, romana e molte altre. Noi ci siamo soffermati dalle sezioni che vanno dalla preistoria al 1600 e ci siamo visitato anche la sezione più in alto dedicata alle civiltà egizia, romana e altre.Per queste sezioni che abbiamo visitato abbastanza bene bisogna dire che di materiale esposto ne hanno parecchio. Nell' insieme una visita che non può mancare se decidete di visitare Copenaghen.

Very educational!

One of the many museums we took in on our recent trip to Copenhagen was this one using the Copenhagen Card(which I recommend). The museum was very large with many fine exhibits. The cafe in the museum served me my favorite meal of our whole trip to the city. I will let you figure out what it was.

Great to explore Denmark's history

Great museum to explore the history of Denmark. Signage could be a little clearer as not clear best route between the many rooms. Good for a long visit. Has what looked like a nice cafe bit didn't use it. Less keen on the artifacts from other countries, but really enjoyed finding out about the country's history. Particularly enjoyed learning about the history between Denmark and Sweden.

Era nei nostri programmi, ma la giornata di pioggia ci ha fatto stare più del previsto nel museo. Ne è valsa la pena. Bel modo di esporre, vicino alle opere d'arte. È esposto un po' di tutto, ogni opera ha delle spiegazioni essenziali che aiutano a capire. Bagni puliti, possibiltà di mangiare o bere qualcosa. Con il biglietto è possibile rientrare anche il giorno dopo perché è valido 48 ore. Da vedere

Viking Sorceress - fascinating

This was a great place to spend a morning. Tickets are reasonable. Definitely check out the Viking Sorceress exhibition. Really fascinating. The free audio guides are great.

beaucoup à voir mais ferme tôt

c'est un grand musée où il y a beaucoup à voir, notamment la partie sur les vikings la partie sur les maisons de poupées est magnifique en ce moment expo temporaire sur les sorcières et également sut l'argent avec une partie très interactive (carte bleue fictive et on gagne ou perd de l'argent à différentes étapes) par contre le musée ferme à 17 heures et dès 16h15 on commence à vous pousser vers la sortie... c'est clair qu'avec un temps de travail hebdomadaire aussi réduit le Danemark se classe facilement parmi les pays à bonne qualité de vie...

I really appreciated the Viking Sorceress exhibition

I really appreciated the Viking Sorceress exhibition and ancient Viking archeological rests. The whole museum is interesting. I only was surprised and displeased by the rudeness of a well-padded young woman who attended at the audio guides stand. The rest of the staff was absolutely kind.

Wheelchair accessible!!

Wonderful museum!! Especially nice for the pre-historic and early historic eras. LOVED the runestones!! Mostly wheelchair accessible with self-serve mini "elevators" all but one of which worked for me. Some really hard to open internal doors though. Great staff, nice cafe.

Nice Museum

Nice museum with plenty of Danish history. A visit would take a full day if you wanted to see everything. We focused on just 3 sections, including the Nordic Journey which was very interesting, but still spent around 2-3 hours here. I do think the price was a little high for what the museum offered.

En uforglemmelig rejse gennem Danmarks historie

Det Nationale Museum i København er et fascinerende sted, hvor Danmarks historie vækkes til live. Udstillingerne spænder fra stenalderen til moderne tid og er både informative og smukt præsenteret. Personalet er venligt og hjælpsomt, hvilket gør besøget endnu mere fornøjeligt.

LE musée a faire à Copenhague

Musée qui présente de très belles pièces. C'est bien agencé, fluide et suffisamment interactif pour ne pas être rasoir. Nous avons eu la chance de voir l'exposition temporaire sur les Sorcieres vikings, le Völva. Audioguide indispensable (malheureusement pas en francais, en anglais et en danois seulement) pour passer de salle en salle dans des evocations de la vie de ces sorcieres et de l'histoire des dieux nordiques. On est transporté. Les enfants de moins de 18 ans ne payent pas et ca c'est un autre plus quand on voyage a 4. Pour le coté pratique, un autre point appréciable est qu'on peut amener son pique nique et qu'il y une salle dédiée au RDC du musée. (il y a meme des consignes pour laisser les sacs si on le souhaite)

Well worth a Visit!

This museum was definitely worth seeing. Starting with the Michelangelo exhibit which brought back memories of Florence and Bologna; the European art section and the evolution of art was very nice. Also the start and evolution of Danish art. Overall time well spent and highly recommended

A lot to see inside this museum

This museum has so many exhibitions that you really need to plan a visit there as early as possible. My mistake was visiting mid afternoon and I hadn’t even seen half of the available rooms before closing time. The Viking section was worth visiting plus there were some fantastic exhibitions exhibiting different cultures and outfits throughout the centuries and how Danish culture had evolved over the space of 500 years.

This is a great museum; we really enjoyed it, even though we saw probably <10% of the exhibits! Lovely building, very Danish, lots of wood and light. Tons of artifacts and treasures from all eras of the past from deep history to the 20th century. We started in the temporary exhibit on money called "Ka-ching." You get a gold card and bit of starting cash, and the goal is to earn 1 million museum money and get to go in the money booth. You can earn money by running in a giant hamster wheel and delivering pizzas in a video game; playing a trivia game; and investing in stocks and real estate over the day that runs actual market data from 1920-2020. Sadly, this proved quite challenging, and we cashed out after a few hours with only 100k and 40k on our cards. It was still a very interesting exhibit though. It has coins and other monetary units from other cultures and lots of facts about Danish work and economy. If you want to have a chance at winning, I suggest go there first thing in the morning, invest wisely, and come back later to see if you succeeded. The temporary exhibit on Volvas, Viking sorceresses, was also super cool. You get a headset and it narrates as you walk through a fantastic, surreal landscape and tells you about the witches, then you witness Ragnarok with lots of flame and fighting. Then you get to see an exhibit with lots of cool artifacts, including a bog man. The headset continues to narrate stories and tell about some of the artifacts. It was really fun and well done. Ages 8+. Free with entry. We also checked out the kids' museum section, which is a series of rooms depicting different cultures and eras from history. Great for kids who like pretend and dress-up. There's plenty more we missed: king's treasures, amulets, artifacts Danish and otherwise... The restaurant is pretty upscale with table service, unless you just want cake or coffee. They have various smorrebrods and there are vegetarian and kids' options. Very nice gift shop with quality toys, books, jewelry and other items, with a wide variety of prices.

Vikings and tasty lunch

This is a large and multifaceted museum. We spent the better part of the day and only hit the highlights. First and foremost, I suggest coming up with a plan for what you most would like to see. Second, we took a very nice lunch break at the cafe (Restaurant Smor) which had tasty smørrebrød. The highlight for us was the most unique exhibit-the Vikings; you begin with an interactive and trippy walk through before entering a large, dark room with some amazing artifacts. The theming of using the headphones continues here as the audio guide would provide information at specific area. This area was definitely busy and I wish we had come here first. We also checked out the Danish history through the decades and the Egyptian area (nothing out of the ordinary). We ended up in the pre-history area. As others have mentioned, navigation is a bit confusing even with a map so a little pre-planning is recommended. Overall, this museum definitely worth a visit!
