Lovers cruise
Very enjoyble experience, the captain of the cruise gave us a very funny and interesting description of the city, and the staff gave an excellent service.
Amsterdam City River Cruise
The canal cruise was perfect, the captin come guide gave us headphones to listen in our own language. The riverboat was clean and tidy, easy to walk on and off, it was a nice day and we got some beautiful pictures!! A great end to a fantastic tourist holiday!!
Early evening cruise
We did the early evening cruise to see the lights of the city. Easy to get tickets by turning up and allocated the next cruise. There is an audio link that you can use, but we decided to just sit outside and watch the views. An hour cruise which was interesting and pretty.
Great information finding cruise
We had an hour cruise around the canals in Amsterdam and learnt a lot whilst doing it. We really enjoyed every second. My five year old didn’t want to get off. The captain was also very knowledgeable.
A Must Try
This is a must do on your list of things to do while visiting Amsterdam. It takes you through areas that you may not be able to walk to. The captain points out things of interest and tells the story behind it.
Crociera easy
Crociera molto carina con guida in tutte le lingue. Partenza vicino ala stazione centrale. Durata circa un ora. Visita dei canali principali di Amsterdam. Da provare
A fab way to see Amsterdam
We had a really lovely time on the one-hour canal cruise. Our captain was very lovely and cracked a good few jokes throughout the tour. The GPS guided tour via the headphones was a fab idea and there were so many language options available which was a really pleasant surprise. We learned so much about the history of the city and the tour even helped us to find places to visit again in further detail after the tour. The price was extremely reasonable considering the excellent experience we got, and our boat even left a little early which was nice. All in all, we would definitely recommend it!
The captian made the experience
We really enjoyed it. We show I I amsterdam cards at the ticket office ans were on a boat and on our way within 10 minutes. Our captain (Tony I believe was his name) was lovely ,cheerful and very knowledge of the area, he also had 2 traniees with him and they were also lovely. The facilties were clean. If I hadn't have had the I amsterdam card I would have still paid what the price was (which I think is reasonable).
Well worth the experience
1st time in Amsterdam and loved it Booked on the Lovers Canal cruise early in the morning to get a feel for the city and to get our bearings The tour showed the highlights of the city and the comentry was good
Cruising backward :(
sitting backward is really annoying... Except that I think it is very nice and the captain was a nice guy, he was really funny, making jokes.
Go with Lovers
Booked through Get Your Guide literally 20 mins before boarding. They let us join a boat that was boarding as soon as we got there, which was great, no standing around as they weren’t so busy. We took a daytime trip and glad we did. Maybe evening cruises would be better in warmer months with open boats. The boat was modern, clean and warm and no condensation at all during any part of our cruise. The headphones were included and the audio commentary was interesting. The captain also added bits and pieces of extra info which was appreciated. It was a great introduction to the canals of Amsterdam as we decided to do this trip literally an hour after arriving in Amsterdam. It helped us with our bearings and with general historical info about the city. The reason for 4 rather than 5 stars is that we seemed to stay on one canal, no museums seen, no Anne Frank house, nothing like that, which was a shame as lots of tourists probably visit these places afterwards. Maybe the canal boat starting from the museums area take that route? We took the one from the station. There are lots of canal boat companies, but we were more than happy with Lovers as their boats appear a lot more modern than many others we saw. I would definitely recommend the cruise and my teenage daughter said it was one of the nicest things we did when in Amsterdam.
Great couples tour
A amazing tour with some great canal boat skills performed and a great host. This tour is very much for couples and being alone I felt a little out of place.
A Great Way To See The City
Done the open boat tour during the summer. A great way to see the city and the audio guide gave plenty of information along the way. Extremely relaxing to the point I almost fell asleep half way around. Would definitely do the tour again if I’m back in Amsterdam
Quick visit to see Amsterdam
Guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. Although it rained, I still enjoyed the tour. The only complaint was the audio was difficult to hear at times.
Relaxing hour on the canals
Nice relaxing hour around the canals. Duco (sorry if I have not got the name correct) was informative with history and fun facts. Would recommend.
Good cruise
It was educational, slowed down at the right places. The pilot was polite and explained well- was fun and energetic.
Tydlig inblick i hela hans liv.
Boka i god tid!
Weekend i Amsterdam
Fint men mycket
Bra museum men stort. Audioguiden lite påfrestande. Specialutställningen var intressant. Rekommenderas.
Mycket folk men bra
Well worth a visit. Learned a lot.
Lovely gallery/museum which has been sensitively curated. I loved the way it traced Van Gogh’s life chronologically and how it showed paintings by his peers showing what he learned along the way. Loved the downstairs display which explained how his sister-in-law and nephew managed his work. I initially thought the entrance price would be too much, but I think I got value for money as I learned a lot. Good (free) lockers for bags. A number of shops selling all the usual souvenirs. I booked in advance online, otherwise I’d have not been able to get a ticket. It was easy to book a slot.
Life of Vincent Van Gogh
Amazing to learn about Vincent Van Gogh his life and his passion for art. They didn’t have any display of starry night. However at the end of the almond blossom display there is fantastic photo opportunity. Several gift shops both inside and out. They have lockers for bags and belongings which is handy especially if you have the discounted tickets for the last hour. Although felt quite rushed looking around.
Good experience
This museum is very well laid out, there are quite a few other artists shown here as well a Van Gogh, which was interesting. We managed to get tickets the day before as they release a load at 5pm for the following day.
A dream come true for an art lover🎨
Visiting the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam was truly a dream come true for me. As someone who has a background in painting, seeing Van Gogh’s work in person was much more emotional and meaningful than simply seeing his paintings in books or online. What I loved most was the way the museum allows you to understand not only the paintings, but also the artist behind them. Seeing the development of his style, his use of colour, his emotions and the different stages of his life made the visit feel like a journey through his artistic mind. The museum is also very engaging and interactive. The experience goes beyond simply walking from one painting to another. The way the story, artworks and information are presented keeps you involved and makes the visit much more memorable. From a visitor-experience perspective, I found the museum very well designed. It creates a connection between the artwork, the artist and the visitor, which is something I really appreciate as someone interested in tourism, events and experiential design. One important thing: give yourself plenty of time. This is not a museum I would recommend rushing through. For someone who truly loves art, I could easily imagine spending almost a whole day here. For me, this was not simply a museum visit. It was an emotional, educational and inspiring experience — and definitely one of the highlights of visiting Amsterdam. A dream I had for a long time finally came true. 🎨✨
Assolutamente consigliato. 5 stelle meritatissime.
Good museum
Interesting museum. Audio tour is a nice bonus though most of the highlights are written in each room. They do a great activity trail to keep kids occupied. It can get a bit busy around the famous pictures but they do limit numbers of tickets. Cafe is grossly overpriced. Gift shops have some nice things.
A great way to learn more about Van Gogh
A must-visit in Amsterdam if you want to learn more about Van Gogh and see his paintings at the same time. We visited in mid-July and really enjoyed it. It feels like you are walking through Van Gogh's life, following his story and the evolution of his art over time. Even if you don't use the audio guide, there is plenty to read along the way during your visit. During our time there, there were many visitors; it was crowded, but we still managed to enjoy our visit. The staff are helpful, which makes the experience smoother. My main tip is to book your ticket in advance on the official website, especially in summer, as you need to select a time slot. Allow around 1.5–2 hours so you don't have to rush. An adult ticket costs 25 euros, and you can check the price and book it directly on the official website. Very well organised and definitely one of the highlights of our trip to Amsterdam.
A delight for art lover's
If you love art you are in for a immersive treat with the audio guide. Friendly staff and no rush. Highlight of any trip to Amsterdam. Tip for travelers book your tickets in advance.
Amazing collection
I am amazed the family managed to keep this many paintings together. Some extremely famous Van Gogh paintings in here. Be sure to get tickets well before your trip. You can’t jus show up here in the summer.
Great museum for fans of Van Gogh’s work
Love this museum. Great overview of Van Gogh’s life and work. We enjoyed the special collection about his relationship with his brother Theo. It was very crowded when we visited and it was tricky to see some of the paintings and information but that’s to be expected in the summer. It’s not overwhelming like some museums and is well laid out. There are a lot of stairs, and that could be an issue for some.
Interessante museo da visitare
Bella esperienza per ammirare molte opere dell’artista. Spazi ampi che permettono una visita rilassata. Consigliato
A must for Van Gogh lovers.
Excellent museum detailing the life and works of Van Gogh. Great cafe, and a good gift shop too. Allow plenty of time as there is a lot to see !
Bello e organizzato.
Emotional insight into the artist’s life via his artwork
We are Van Gogh fans, so planned this visit as a highlight of our trip to Amsterdam, and it lived up to expectations. We pre-booked tickets, which were free with our NL Museum pass. We spent about 3 hours in the museum, which takes you on an emotional journey through the artist’s life via his artwork. There is a set tour which ensures you see everything. The museum was busy, but we could still read the information by each picture. There are a number of cafes and shops in the museum, plus a water fountain.
Imperdibile
a must do in Amsterdam
Absolutely loved this museum. Ive been a fan of Van Gogh all my life and i had forgotten a lot of facts and was happy to relearn them and also view a lot of his masterpieces all in one spot. The museum does a great job. I did not do the audio tour but just wandered on my own. The museum does a great job highlighting his close relationship with his brother Theo. I had forgotten Theo also died very young and that his widow Jo actually is responsible for Van Gogh's fame. I also either forgot or didnt realize there were several other siblings. We went on a Saturday during June and the only thing I would do differently next time is not go on a weekend. It was VERY busy. I think it's always busy and sold out ahead of time but I would go on a week day. Not sure how much difference it would make but that is what I would do next time. They do not sell tickets at the door you need to buy them online ahead of time. You can buy them directly from the museum and no need to use a third party website.
Beautiful Museum
The Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam is a work of art in itself! Beautifully designed, well organized, and easy to find, it was a wonderful experience during our first visit to Amsterdam. There are quite a few stairs, but elevators and escalators are available. One helpful tip: if you’re hoping to see Van Gogh’s famous The Starry Night, you won’t find it here—it’s at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York City. (Van Gogh Museum
Interesting
Worth a look, we spent a couple of hours here, it was very busy but well set out and interesting to know the historic information. Along with seeing some famous works of art.
An unforgettable experience in Van Gogh's world
So worth a visit! I spent about 3 hours at this amazing museum seeing works of my favourite artist. I learned about this life and details of his paintings. It was all presented wonderfully. The shopping was also amazing!
Go see Van Gogh
We spent 2 1/2 hours. Well done audio and flow of paintings and explanations. Highly recommend
This word was never meant for one as beautiful as you
A brilliant museum. Easy to enjoy at your own pace with the audio guide, I would not have enjoyed it so much without it as it tells you Vincent's remarkable yet tragic story. For anyone visiting Amsterdam it's a must.
Superb - book tickets in advance
Myself and my wife visited recently on a weekend break. We have no knowledge of art but we were informed this museum was more of an experience than a gallery. It was just that and the museum was well structured and allowed you to follow the life journey of Vincent, his family, his troubles and the development of his art and studies. For non art fanatics like myself it provided an education of the artist which helped us appreciate the art better on the visit. The entrance to the museum has a well structured cloak room service and extremely helpful staff. We booked a time slot one day in advance which allowed us to walk straight in. This is strongly advised as the que waiting for tickets outside was huge.
The troubled master on display here
We booked well in advance as it did sell out. The audio guide is well organized and much better than the Riks.
Van Gogh, the man, the myth, the artist
I thought I knew Van Gogh, until I visited this museum. Through a collection of some of his greatest masterpieces, a story of tragedy and artistic anguish is told. The architecture of the hub is simply genius, and the inside is modern and welcoming. I got the audio tracks, which describes Van Gogh’s journey through life. He is truly a tragic character, and this museum show it well. This experience is best with slightly older children and adults, but I think everyone can appreciate the art. All in all, a splendiferous trip!
Worth the visit
Buy your tickets in advance. Great museum which is well laid out around the life of Van Gogh and includes many of his original works.
Would recommend
My family and I went on this tour on our visit to Amsterdam. We are not great art enthusiasts, but had read that it was a good museum. We all really enjoyed the museum and the exhibit. We did the audio tour so we were able to go from room to room at our own pace. The museum was very well organized and the exhibits were very interesting and we enjoyed seeing how his life progressed through the art. There are a lot of floors and steps that you have to use if that is a consideration, but there are elevators.
Van Gogh Museum - must vistit when in Amsterdam.
A wonderful museum, simply a must-visit for art lovers.
Fantastisk oplevelse
Highly recommend
They have so many of his works, it was fascinating seeing the evolution of his work throughout his life. Highly recommend.
Fantastic museum that exceeded my expectations
Had a fantastic visit to the Van Gogh museum! I didn't know very much about Van Gogh's work or his life but came away with a richer understanding about his talent, life, family, and impact on art. I found his work and story very moving and inspirational. I paid extra for an audio tour which was well-worth the money - it was a great accompaniment to my visit, guiding me through the museum and providing additional context and insight into various paintings on display. The museum was very well laid out and easy to follow, with plenty of friendly staff available to help or answer any questions. It was sold out when I visited so the galleries were fairly busy but not overwhelmingly so. There are free lockers to store bags which was useful. I stayed about 2.5-3hrs which was enough time to fully follow the extended audio guide around the temporary and permanent exhibits and visit the museum shop for a memento. The museum exceeded my expectations and is well worth a visit!
Expo jaune
10 out of 10 would recommend 👌
Lovely museum with beautiful art pieces! Fully booked, but still efficient and not too crowded. Spacious, clean and calm. Great collection! It is really something else seeing the pieces up close, the layers and strokes! Very good audio guide! Recommend using it! Loved the temporary exhibit too, with the family history ❤️ Really nice shops too! Great experience all over!!! I even got to see my favorite one from it's visit in Norway in 2015 - Undergrowth 🥰 Van Gogh has been my favorite ever since and I finally got to visit the museum in Amsterdam. 🥰 Amazing 👏
