Om
Gå i Van Goghs fodspor
Besøg Rijksmuseum i Amsterdam
Oplev Van Gogh & Rembrandt in Amsterdam

God museumsoplevelse uanset alder
Fantastisk museum, et must i Amsterdam
Fantastisk museum, et must i Amsterdam! Husk at bestille billetter online. Kommer selv gerne tilbage.
Flot bygning
Gorgeous
What a beautiful museum. We came here last minute after I unexpectedly ended up wheelchair bound and it was very accessible. As an art enthusiast it was great to spend several hours surrounded by amazing Dutch works of art. The building itself is spectacularly designed and I could have admired the architecture for hours.
Un must!
Fabulous museum
A fabulous museums with great collections. The app is very slick, informative and easy to use. Book tickets in advance and get there early it got super busy by lunch time.
In jedem Fall besuchen!
5 stelle meritatissime.
A MUST DO EXPERIENCE!
A MUST DO EXPERIENCE! One of the most amazing museum and art gallery collections in the world. The building itself is well worth the visit. The Libray is really a wonder in itself. The art works are breathtaking; unless sen live you can do justice to this collection. The museum is complemented by a great cafe. One of the best experiences of Amsterdam.
Art, Stories & Inspiration Under One Roof
Rijksmuseum Amsterdam Review As an artist and teacher, I truly enjoyed visiting the Rijksmuseum. I loved exploring the paintings and seeing how different artists expressed their ideas, emotions, and creativity through art. What I particularly appreciated was the combination of art, history, and the visitor experience. The workshops and creative activities, especially the opportunity to explore photography and artistic expression, made the visit more interactive and inspiring. As a student of International Leisure, I also found the museum interesting from a leisure and tourism perspective. It is not simply a place to look at artworks; it creates an experience where culture, creativity, education, and the city of Amsterdam come together. For me, the Rijksmuseum was both inspiring as an artist and interesting as a teacher and leisure student. I left with new ideas, beautiful memories, and plenty of creative inspiration. Definitely a place I would recommend to anyone interested in art, culture, and creative experiences.
Do not miss!
I was sceptical as to whether my children (8, 10, 12) would last the course in the Rijksmuseum but it was one of the highlights of our trip to Amsterdam and would highly recommend. The building is obviously stunning but the variety and interest of the art means it was enjoyed even by my youngest. Each piece has an adjacent description which is easy to read and accessible, and there are some really big hitters, and others which are just genuinely beautiful. Fantastic gift shop. I would have liked a bit of info on the artists at each of their sections - there is some limited info given about their backgrounds in the descriptions of their pieces, but it would it would have been helpful to have something more comprehensive to have some context when looking at their work. Would definitely visit again and leave more time to see the special exhibitions, which we didn't have time for. (Also - the gift shop is excellent!)
You have to go
The Rijksmuseum was one of the highlights of our time in Amsterdam. It’s such an iconic museum, and there is an incredible amount to see. We were especially glad we went early, arriving around 9am, because even then it was already busy. As the morning went on, it got noticeably more crowded, so I’d definitely recommend getting there as early as possible. I also highly recommend buying your tickets in advance. It makes the whole experience much easier and saves you from worrying about tickets when you arrive. One thing I really appreciated was the museum app. It gives you a discount in the museum shop, and you can also use it for free audio tours if you bring your own headphones. That was a great little bonus and made it easier to get more out of the visit without paying extra for an audio guide. There’s so much history and incredible artwork here that you could easily spend several hours exploring. We really enjoyed our visit, and I would absolutely love to come back again. Definitely a must-see while in Amsterdam!
Superbe !!
Superbe ! Tant l'écrin que les collections proposées ! Très bonne scénographie. Boutiques agréables proposant beaucoup de choix !
Very Nice Museum Experience
Entered promptly at our appointed time and began our walk about. Do yourself a favor and download the Rijks Museum app at your device App Store. Our experience was great as the art work presented is beautiful with a nice mix of paintings (predominant), sculpture, and historical items. The facility is laid out well and only in front of several of the better known paintings was it slightly crowded. The app provides descriptions of some of the paintings via an entered code number and provides an interactive map via a door way numbering system. Really well done and a nice afternoon spent looking at Dutch masterpieces.
Raggiungibile molto facilmente in tram.
Afternoon at the museum
I spent several hours enjoying the Dutch Masters artwork. well worth the admission. Wonderful experience! Not too busy on a Tuesday afternoon. Classic atmosphere. Very helpful staff.
Exceeded our expectations
The Rijksmuseum really exceeded our expectations. It was a great way to get an overview of Dutch history through art. We bought a NL museum pass at the museum (€75 per adult) which gives non-EU residents free or reduced-price entrance to 5 museums. Entry was free as a result, although we pre-booked our entrance date and time on their website. The museum has a free app, so you can choose any number of self-guided tours depending on what you’re interested in or how much time you have. The museum has a brilliant cafe/restaurant in the central atrium (£8 for 2 coffees and £32 for lunch with drinks for 2).
A world-class museum that left us completely amazed
Rijksmuseum was the absolute highlight of our trip to Amsterdam and one of the most extraordinary museums we have ever visited. The collection is truly world-class, and the museum itself is a masterpiece of architecture, history, and art. My boyfriend and I spent several hours exploring the galleries, and every room was filled with incredible paintings, sculptures, decorative arts, and historical treasures. Seeing Rembrandt’s The Night Watch in person was an unforgettable experience and one of the greatest artistic moments of our trip. The museum is beautifully organized, spacious, and easy to navigate. The exhibits are thoughtfully presented, and the audio guide provided fascinating insights that made the artworks even more meaningful. We especially loved the Dutch Golden Age galleries, which contain some of the most famous and beautiful paintings in the world. The building itself is stunning, with elegant architecture, beautiful courtyards, and a wonderful atmosphere that makes the entire visit feel special. The gardens outside are also lovely and perfect for a relaxing walk after exploring the museum. We highly recommend booking tickets in advance and allowing plenty of time for your visit because there is so much to see. Rijksmuseum is an essential destination in Amsterdam and one of the finest museums in Europe. It exceeded all our expectations and created unforgettable memories. Truly spectacular and highly recommended!
Beautiful Artwork, but a Little Overwhelming
We had a really interesting visit to the Rijksmuseum! We did a guided audio tour, which was just over an hour long. You have to be 16+ to do the tour, although my brother was 15 and they still let him join us, which was really nice! The only downside was that it was very busy and quite noisy, so I personally found it quite difficult to concentrate at times. I also felt that our tour guide spoke a little too fast, which made it harder to keep up with everything. Because there were so many people around, the tour also felt a little rushed at times, and I would’ve liked more time to properly take everything in. However, the paintings and sculptures were absolutely beautiful! The toilets were also super clean and surprisingly quiet, which was really nice considering how busy the rest of the museum was! The library was also soooo quiet, not that busy, and it was really beautiful!! 🤩 Overall, we really enjoyed our visit and I’d definitely recommend going if you’re in Amsterdam.
Great!
Amazing museum must visit Full of famous old dutch masters
Great and amazing museum!
So many things to see. There are variety of painting works.
Art lovers paradise
We really enjoyed our visit to the Rijksmusem. It's an amazing building and once inside is even better. The staff are really helpful and friendly. It is massive though so not easy to navigate, we got the audio tour but even then got lost a bit but again staff are always on hand to help out. Great to see some of the most famous paintings in the world and if you are an art lover then It will be a must see. It was a little expensive but that might just be because in Scotland our museums are all free.
Great collection of art, poorly organized audio guide
Great collection of art but audio guide does not flow well. Van Goigh did a better job on the audio guide.
Excellent museum.
Enjoyed my visit to the museum, visited with my daughter and niece, very busy, was specifically interested in the restoration of ‘The Nightwatch’, really impressed. Rembrandt’s other work was also well represented as was paintings by many other Dutch artists. An excellent museum covering 800 years of Dutch art and history.
So much to see
Great museum with lots to see. The staff are great, it's worth asking them any questions as they are so knowledgeable.
Large art museum
My family went in July 2026, and we do not usually go to art museums. I had trouble with my tickets downloading and the staff was very helpful and friendly while we were sorting out that issue. The museum is a must see for art lovers. It just was not what we were expecting. I think that we thought that it would be more like the Smithsonian in Wash DC and there would be more than art. There was a replica ship and the library was incredible. I do not think that younger children would enjoy it. We did not do a guide or an audio tour and just felt like we were wandering around.
This place is amazing!
This place is MASSIVE! Pick the time period/artists you NEED to see and go there first. The museum is divided up by time periods, so choose what floor/wing you want to see first. Also, get there early. If you are able to get there about 1/2 hour before they open, that is ideal. Read the info about the museum before going there. It will tell you what you can and can't bring in there and how the museum is set up. If you have a bag, they will search it. There is a mind boggling amount of artwork in the museum. We weren't able to see all that we wanted to see in the 5 hours that we were there. I really enjoy museums and art galleries, not everyone is up for going to one for massive amounts of time. Please plan your visit accordingly. If you want see a ton of stuff and the people you are with are ready to go in 1 or 2 hours, maybe this isn't the museum to go to. There are tons of museums in Amsterdam. Pretty much a museum for every interest, so it's worth researching what you would like to see. We also went to the Rembrandt House, which is worth seeing, if you like Rembrandt.
Wonderful museum
Wonderful museum with so much to see - give yourself 3 hours to fully enjoy it! It was neat to see Nightwatch under restoration.
Great art
So much to see - some fabulous art work from Dutch period. Night watchman under renovation but can still see it book in advance Lovely cafes too Confusing where the toilets are and stairs to certain parts- just ask for help
A Beautiful Museum Even for Non-Museum People
I am not usually a big museum person, but I had a great time at the Rijksmuseum. The building itself is beautiful, with soaring high ceilings and a grand, impressive atmosphere throughout. The exhibits were extremely well maintained and thoughtfully presented. The main Rembrandt painting was being restored during our visit, so it was a bit harder to see than usual, but that did not take away from the overall experience. We also had lunch at the café inside the museum, and it was excellent. The coffee was strong and flavorful, and the sandwich was tasty and fresh. The museum can be a bit hard to navigate, so I would recommend either taking a tour or grabbing a map when you arrive. Overall, it was a wonderful visit and well worth making time for while in Amsterdam.
Wonderful museum--for adults, not for kids
Wonderful museum. Beautiful building inside and out (lovely gardens outside as well). Great exhibits and easy to navigate. We went during the week, mid-day, and it wasn't too crowded (except around/in front of Night Watch, and they were doing work on it anyway, so it was a little obscured, which was a bit of a bummer. The ship exhibit was a nice surprise, and it was a hit with our four-year-old. On that note, to those who have said it's kid-friendly (those on Trip Advisor, family travel bloggers and whatnot), I am going to definitely disagree. In fact, when we straight up asked at the info desk when we first entered about the "family route" that we'd read about online, or the kid route (I forget what people were calling it), the man didn't know what we were talking about, and he decidedly said it was not a museum for kids. Not to say that kids aren't allowed, but a) we got a lot of unpleasant looks, and, more importantly, b) there is nothing interactive (which I get; it's an art museum--for adults), nothing to touch, it's mostly paintings on walls, at "adult" level, etc. My guess is that family travel bloggers are trying to justify having taken their kids there because they really wanted to go, but no, it is NOT a museum for kids. Also, it's not baby-friendly either b/c you have to wear your backpack on the front, so if you wanted to carry your baby in a baby carrier, you can't bring in a backpack (or you need two people: one to carry the baby, and one to carry the backpack, which is what we did as there were two of us adults, a baby, and a four-year-old). In short: great museum--FOR ADULTS (or teenagers at the youngest). NOT a museum for kids, despite what other people online will try to tell you.
MUSEO MERAVIGLIOSO, I AMSTERDAM CARD TOP
A Must-Visit in Amsterdam—Don't Miss the Masterpieces and Exclusive Miffy Merch!
The Rijksmuseum is one of Amsterdam's most famous landmarks, and it is highly recommended even if you only have limited time in the city. It houses world-renowned masterpieces, including Rembrandt’s iconic "The Night Watch" and Johannes Vermeer’s "The Milkmaid", alongside a vast collection of fascinating historical artifacts. A fun bonus: the museum gift shop sells adorable Miffy merch and keychains dressed up in "The Milkmaid" and "The Night Watch" themes, which make perfect souvenirs!
Top musee
Goede toelichting.
Rijksmuseum is Remarkable
This museum is extraordinary. We stayed for five hours and didn’t see everything. The Old Masters are memorable although we couldn’t see much of Rembrandt’s The Night Watchmen. What you see is the painting being renovated. My favorite room was the library. We had a view from above with the circular staircase and a room filled with art books and ladders. There are many remarkable rooms that we wandered into. Choose what you want to see most and go there first!
Hele leuke ervaring. Aanrader!
A projected show of the artists work inside a large church with music and a story. Was a nice relaxing event. Show up early for a spot to lay on the floor to look up in the middle.
This was a very unique experience and I’m happy we visited.
Didn't go there with any expectations, it was phenomenal, the animations didn't take away from the artist, the paintings used were some of my favorites.
Beautiful experience, interesting 40 minutes learning about Van Gogh’s and Rembrandt’s story, in the exact place where they met. The combination of visuals is really amazing. Also the staff, Stavros, Gustavo, and Wessel, were helpful and cheerful adding an extra point to my visit!
VanGogh/Rembrandt in Amsterdam
The venue, presentation, and the experience was great. We’ve been to several “immersive” classic artist events before but the setting in the church for this one made it the best we’ve experienced.
Lovely way to spend 40 minutes
I wasn't completely sure what to expect, but it was great! Not gimmicky at all - just really well done and very impressive. Music and narration not too loud either, which can be a problem with these things. Would recommend!
Amazing experience, worth ever penny
An amazing immersive experience in a landmark historical church. Not to be missed! You can lie on a beanbag or sit on a seat and experience an amazing light show of moving paintings by van Gogh and Rembrandt. The story telling was top notch and I learned interesting new aspects about both painters. Omlovrd it so much, I want to go again!
Emersive, interesting, fun
IT was great althoug the sound could be a bit more clear i loved it.
It was a beautiful immersion of paintings and light combine with information about the painters and their lives.
It was a very beautiful, informative, and interesting exhibition. Interesting facts were woven in with stories about the painters and their experiences.
Zeker doen!
Good Experience
It's a great way to say Van Gogh in a new light. Lovely venue. Some of the reviews here are bizarre, did people not read the title of what this experience is about? Far from a scam. Worthwhile.
An experience not to miss
This Van Gogh and Rembrandt light experience was held a beautiful 400 year old church in Amsterdam. It was a truly amazing and unique experience. The setting and music was beautiful, which really added to the whole experience. Those who produced the projections, music and narration are also artists. Loved it and would highly recommend to everyone who has the opportunity to attend. Thank you. Katherine and Philip (Ireland)
Lovely experience
Really enjoyed the fantastic visuals of both Van Gogh and Rembrandt. A great experience and introduction for young people and adults alike.
A journey into the artistic soul of two great artists
The setting is the church .. Why? It’s important and you have to find out. Van Gogh was influenced and affected and influenced by Rembrandt Two Dutch Magna artists in a period over 4 centuries The experience is delightful and its educational What inspired me was the documentary and some amazing biography of Van Gogh - personal details about his journey and artistic development of his paintings How he would choose to spend the last 10 days of his life - was a profound thought for me to reflect too! ‘Heaven and earth will pass away, but the Word remains’ - their legacy lives on… I enjoyed the setting and the story and left feeling enriched by what I learned It had soul in this illumination! Thank you Julie and Benjamin for this creative and educational experience
what to do in Amsterdam
this experience was beautiful!! we had a great time looking at the paintings that were projected and also listening to a touching story about van gogh and rembrandt. the staff was also very understanding about the schedule because we had tickets at 11 and they let us at 12 because we were late
Brothers in Light...
Rembrandt meets Vincent in a subtle and impressive way..Light, Colors and Imagination visualised in a special setting. A curch in the heart of Amsterdam..
A lovely reason to pause for 40 mins and soak up some Dutch culture
We spent 40 minutes lying on bean bags in a beautiful grand building watching a fantasic show of Rembrant and Van Goh’s Work with a lovely naration. It was such a relaxing experience and a pleasant break from walking around this stunning city.
Verrassend.
Amazing experience
An absolutely amazing experience. We booked late (just turned up) and the experience was well worth it. We sat in seats, but there were bean bags to lie on as well. Totally immersive and captivating. Well worth the visit. Easy walking distance from the station and nice cafes nearby for a snack whilst waiting for our slot.
A must see experience
An amazing experience. It is in a beautiful massive church which is still used on Sundays for mass. The light display and auditory accompaniment of Van Goghs letters made it a wonderful show. You can sit on chairs or lie on bean bags put on the floor. Employees are friendly and it is well worth going to see. Thank you Van Gogh and Rembrandt
100% worth it
The show was amazing! Very nice portrayal of Van Gogh and Rembrandts art, totally worth it! The show was about 40 minutes long, perfect duration. Shout out to Gustavo, super nice guy!
Amazing experience!
It was a amazing experience! The church was very special with the projection of moving pitcures en sound. With the best host: Gustavo!
Absolutely Amazing Experience
Absolutely fabulouse experience highly recommend. We managed to get the floor beanbags so it was also relaxing ... The location of the old church also added to the experience.
Amazing lights and sound
Absolutely wonderful experience, was in awe of the lights and sounds. It taking place in the church too made it even more mesmerizing! 10/10 would recommend, and Bruno was a star!
Experiencia distinta e inusual !!!
Beautiful Experience at the Van Gogh and Rembrandt Museums in amsterdam ✨️
The show was absolutely beautiful and inspiring — a true celebration of art and history. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout the visit. The overall atmosphere was calm and well-organized. One small suggestion: I would love to see more seating areas in the central spaces to relax and take in the art more comfortably. Highly recommended to anyone visiting Amsterdam — a must-see experience!
More restrictive than other immersive experiences, but if you are a Rembrandt or Van Gogh fan, still enjoyable!
We entered the darkened church sanctuary and had to find seats (choose from large cushions on the floor or church pews or chairs) not knowing what direction we would be looking. It was hard to hear the introduction since the speaker did not have a microphone. Once the program began, it seemed like images on one wall did not travel around 360 degrees. And depending on where you sit, you may have chandeliers and other infrastructure in your sightline. At times, it was a bit difficult to hear the words spoken during the program. Rembrandt was not as interesting or as colorful as Van Gogh (at least in his later years). I ended up just looking around and up to see what I could enjoy during the program. I did see a number of my favorite Van Gogh paintings, but have no idea how many different works were covered. The show lasted about 40 minutes. It was not as much fun as the other immersive experiences I've seen (where you can get up and move around), but it was still enjoyable!
Worth the visit if you have a ride!
Enjoyable! Set in an historic church both artists attended. Sound is a little garbled; visuals are like a panoramic slide show. Area is difficult to access via taxi.
Not when you are tired!
I was tired after long day of walking and there were mats on which I lay - this was a mistake. I initially started to dose. The imagery is cast on the ceiling and the walls. Lying on your back you have to crane your head around to see the walls as well. I wonder if it would have been better to have been seated? The sound, as I am a senior, was occasionally difficult to discern but overall mood was set and did impact the images. I am not certain that the value is there though at 17€ for 40min. On the other hand I do not regret spending time experiencing Van Gogh’s words while seeing his images.
Beautiful Experience
The atmosphere in this church was truly beautiful, and the production of the experience was top-notch. Our guide for the day, Gustavo, was fantastic. It's quite something to realise you're in the same church where both Rembrandt and Van Gogh once were (and that it's still an active church)! The unique touch of laying on bean bags in the church's center made it even more memorable. We found the experience to be very informative and thoroughly impressive. Definitely recommend a visit! Just be sure to wrap up warm, as it can be a little cold inside, which is understandable for such a large church
Colorfull Story
Lovely show, A wonderfull moment to simply enjoy a story and beautiful art. The colors and the sound bring you into the story.
Merciiiii
Incredible
The story was incredible. How the pictures were displayed felt like Van Gogh was there through his artwork. This is our last day in Amsterdam and it really made our final day feel special. Thank you to all the people who made the amazing display.
Amazing presentation
If you love Goya's art and want to experience it through the voices and photos it is an amazing experience to see it all come alive. I recommend it highly
Lovely experience
Very friendly staff it was enjoyable and a different way of looking at art. Really enjoyed the experience with a great summary of how Van Gough was inspired by Rembrandt.
Unlike anything I have done before!
This experience was incredible and nothing like I have ever experienced before! You are so immersed that you genuinely lose track of time. Would highly recommend.
booked by mistake, but loved the experience 😍 …
A Mesmerizing Journey Through Art at the Noorderkerk The Van Gogh and Rembrandt light performance at the Noorderkerk is a breathtaking tribute to two of the Netherlands' greatest artists. Located in the heart of the Jordaan, the historic church becomes a living canvas as stunning projections of Van Gogh’s vivid landscapes and Rembrandt’s evocative portraits illuminate its walls. Guided by the voice of a skilled narrator, the audience is taken on an intimate journey through the lives and works of these masters. The narration adds depth and context, weaving the stories behind the art into the immersive visual experience. The interplay of light, color, and storytelling creates a unique atmosphere, blending history and innovation within the awe-inspiring architecture of Noorderkerk. This performance is an unforgettable homage to Dutch artistic heritage, offering a fresh and engaging way to connect with the timeless genius of Van Gogh and Rembrandt. I loved it. A must-see for art lovers and anyone seeking a unique cultural experience in Amsterdam.
Amazing immersive experience and not to be missed!
Beautiful immersive way to enjoy learning about Van Gogh and Rembrandt. Gorgeous setting and wonderful video/music projected onto the church. I feel sad by the amount of negative reviews because the purchasers didn’t know what they were buying - this is no reflection on the experience and is user error. The website clearly states multiple times ‘we are not the Van Gogh museum’ so I don’t think they can do any more to avoid this happening. I would definitely recommend - I loved lying on the bean bags to watch the church transform in front of my eyes!
Wonderful experience
The show was amazing and breathtaking !! The images and the sound worked so well together. We enjoyed the whole show and the time flew away. The church as a place for this show was just the perfect spot. For us it was the perfect final of a great day in Amsterdam. It’s a beautiful way to come a little closer to the two artist Van Gogh and Rembrandt, even if you don’t enjoy standing in a museum and watching art the whole day.
Incredible virtual experience
The virtual art experience of Van Gogh and Rembrandt was absolutely stunning. The setting was both lovely and meaningful, creating a perfect backdrop for the works of these two iconic artists. The atmosphere was immersive, and the visuals were simply breathtaking, bringing their masterpieces to life in ways that felt both intimate and grand. What made this experience truly memorable was how well it conveyed the stories and legacies of these two famous local artists. Each piece seemed to speak not only of their genius but of the rich cultural heritage they left behind. The combination of stunning visuals, captivating storytelling, and an incredible atmosphere made this experience a beautiful tribute to Van Gogh and Rembrandt. Highly recommended for any art lover!
Amazing immersive art experience!
The MOST amazing experience! Absolute highlight of our trip to Amsterdam. Grab a bean bag on the floor, recline, and look up as the art and story are projected on the ceiling and walls. Staff did a great job. Go!
Art in immersive storytelling!
This is a must see experience. Cozy, immersive and a unique lens to art. It helps you get a peek into Van Gogh's mind and why Rembrandt inspired him as much as he did.
