Part of our Smithsonian boat tour, the stop at the tulip gardens was a highlight of the three week trip. If you love them, this is a mecca for tulips. The beauty of this place sucks the air from your lungs. We had perfect weather and the early morning sunlgiuht made for spectacular pictures.

Keukenhof is an absolute must for all flower/nature lovers, and just for anyone wanting to find peace and relaxation from a busy life. Keukenhof feels like a dream... on a lovely sunny day, with a slight breeze in your hair... smell of tulips, daffodils and other spring flowers charming you as you discover the paths of this dreamy park... We had spent 3 hours walking around, having lunch and exploring the park. The place is huge! And filled with hundreds of kinds of flowers, predominantly tulips. You'll see tulips in all shapes and forms, unbelievable colors and beauty that can't be seen elsewhere! It's truly a mesmerizing experience!! The park is serene and easy to navigate, with plenty of pathways, restrooms, restaurants and shops. You'll be given a paper map at the entrance to navigate your way. There's also a lake in the middle of the park and it's possible to book a boat tour (in advance) that takes you around the nearby tulip fields (worth only if you come in the mid season as the farmers cut off tulip bulbs later in the season so you'll be riding next to empty fields). Highly recommend visiting - make sure to book your tickets in advance as it gets sold out quickly and the season is only open from March till beginning of May!

The gardens are large and beautiful and well worth a visit. Tons of flowers, beautiful walking paths, lakes, trees and many other exhibits. However, as with any beautiful popular place, it can get ruined by its success. We went in only the modertaely busy season and we went in the morning speciifcally to avoid the crowds. We could feel the density of people increase and it became less pleasant as it filled up. The shear number of people is not the worst part, it is the inevitable bad behaviors of people too self-absorbed to be considerate to others that is the most frustrating. Therefore, go as early as possible and on the day least likely to be busy.

Visited Keukenhof after Viking Rhine river cruise on 5/9. I'dsay we were about a week late in terms of tulip blooming, but still beautiful and incredibly maintained. Canal boat cruise would have been a waste of time since growing fields already cultivated. Tons of people and busses, but park is so large that crowding can be minimized by getting away from the main entrance. Well worth the experience, but I would recommend visiting on your own or with a private guide. We took the bus tour from Amsterdam, which only provides transportation to and from and entrance ticket. Main problem is that this tour is out and back on same bus, with 4 hours to visit the park. 2 hours is plenty, so a lot of just killing time waiting until departure time.

Just in time - as it closed a week or so later .. visited may 1. Garden was fantastic - crowded as anything but wow what a garden … at every turn. Arrived on crowded bus from Europaplein and stood all the way ! Gardens was fast and quick to enter … walked quickly to whisper boat and had actually an hour on the boat but kinda wished it had been the half hour it was supposed to be as most tulips had been harvested and color was going fast and the second half hour saw next to nothing. Gardens … just wow … whisper boat earlier at the end of April would have been great

My wife picked to dates of our trip to see the tulips in peak bloom, and this was the highlight! Probably the most beautiful place we have ever seen, it’s almost overwhelming. Our tickets were for the earliest time at opening, which got us ahead of the peak crowds of the busses. Amazing!

Keukenof is terrific and a must see when in the Amsterdam area. We went in April to see the tulips so we expected the place to be crowed which is was but not terrible. The weather was kind of rainy the day we went but we made the best of it. Tulips everywhere. All kinds, all colors. We had a terrific time.

Magnificently conceived gardens showing off the annual obsession, tulips. We caught the gardens on the last weekend of the season, and there were more than enough tulips in bloom, although some were in decline. The bordering tulip fields were empty. The difficulty of this place is that one wonders if the hordes of tourists are her to actually look at the flowers or just to take their selfies with the flowers. Pedestrian traffic is impossible with all the barely mindful selfie photographers jamming the paths.

If I had known how wonderful my visit would be, I would have booked two days. With all the instagram photos I was ready to be disappointed, but instead my expectations were FAR exceeded. We arrived at approximately 8:15 and had the place to ourselves until about 10. After 10 it was very crowded but you could still enjoy the flowers even with the various photo shoots going on. We stayed until about 5 and could have stayed longer. We took the whisper boat ride which was fun, mostly due to the driver providing additional commentary. We booked the bus ticket from the Amsterdam RAI station (very easy to reach by metro) and hopped on after waiting in a very organized line. The bus back was a little more chaotic and they couldn't tell us when the next bus would be (it was only a 5 minute wait). This seems like it could be easily rectified. Even with the crowds - the bathrooms stayed clean with constant attention from the facilities staff. The lines for lunch were also short and there were a lot of great options (salad, sandwich, hot meals, cake, coffee, beer, wine) and seating available. We did have a good day weather-wise, so sat outside.

This has got to be one the most amazing visits we have done. To see 7 million bulbs all absolutely perfect with no bugs affecting the plants is a sight to behold. The park is only open for 8 weeks each year and it attract nearing one million visitors per season. This has been on our bucket list for many years and we finally made it - stunning. Although there were lots of visitors, you didn't really feel too crowded. An amazing visit and is highly recommended

We went to Keukenhof during a two day trip to Amsterdam and it was definitely worth the visit. It’s huge and definitely worth the entry price. There are two huge car parks at either end of the attraction and the smell of pollen hits you as you get out of the car. It was quite busy considering we went midweek but as it’s only open for a few weeks, this wasn’t surprising. The tulips are absolutely stunning and even the kids appreciated the hard work that has gone into growing them all. The shop was a bit pricey but we managed to bring some tulip bulbs home for family members. It’s definitely worth a trip, especially if you’re in the area.

Most beautiful place I’ve ever been. My husband and teenager son also enjoyed it although not being flower lovers. It is an 80 acre planned garden with trees, ponds, pavilions with exotic tulips, flowers and orchids (which I also love). We took the bus from AMS central station at 9:30am and it wasn’t crowded. We left at 1pm and by that time it was crowded. Be at AMS station before 9am to check in, otherwise you will end up in a later bus. The park only opens 8 weeks per year, some time in March . We went on mid April and got to see tulips in full bloom. There will be a lot of people, but It is not a tourist trap. It was worth it for my family (with 2 tough-to-please teenagers).

Spectacular displays that are planted new every year. Get there early to avoid the masses that arrive in a cavalcade of busses. Get tickets early as well if you want to do the 45 minute electric boat ride through the tulip fields. The gardens are sensory overload - the colors and scents are unbelievable.
OrlandoTennisbum
We got into the garden early, left at 10:00 and did the bike ride thru the tulip fields, had lunch and then re-entered after 3:30. (received a hand stamp from employee before exit) This method allowed us to avoid the crazy crowded conditions from 10:30-3:30). The garden and bike ride was amazing and one I would do over and over. We've been to the Butchart Garden (Canada), Powerscourt Garden (Ireland), Mirabelle Garden (Austria), etc......this knocked all of the previous garden visits. Really well done...if you can avoid the crowds.

Such a beautiful park! The design and layout are outstanding, and the variety of tulips is breathtaking. Wear comfortable shoes and be prepared to have your blood pressure lowered as you stroll the beautiful pathways that weave throughout the stunning flower displays. Before entering the park, there is a wheelchair rental room to the left of the entrance that allowed us to check our coats. I noticed there were bags and suitcases checked in this secure location as well. Within the park, they have strategically built bathrooms and refreshment stands, and gift shops that are very well maintained. While there were thousands of people strolling through, it never felt overcrowded and people were so patient with each other. It had to be the beauty of the flowers! The staff at the refreshment stands only take credit cards, which made transactions go quickly and we never had long waits in lines. This place is beautiful and well worth the price of the ticket.

First....Wear comfortable shoes!!! Incredibly beautiful, manicured gardens displaying the wide variety of flowers grown in Holland. Climb the windmill, (1 floor), to view extensive fields of flowers that are harvested and shipped to consumers. Located about a half hour drive south of Amsterdam, it is worth taking a bus tour on a comfortable coach. You'll appreciate the relaxing ride after walking thru acres and acres of gardens. Expect large crowds, especially during the blooming season of tulips. Although, the gardens draw thousands of people per day, there is still plenty of room to wander without it feeling overcrowded. Worth a visit to see the incredible landscaping and variety of flowers. Food, drink, souvenirs and LOTS of floral bulbs available for purchase.

Expensive but totally worth it. Can easily spend the whole day and still not see everything. Amazing presentation of so many varieties of tulips and other flowers. Really impressed with how the gardens are carefully arranged and maintained. Enough play areas to keep children also amused.
Palomino922
There is nothing more I can say than this is a spectacular garden with acres and acres of beautifully landscape. Please Please, get to the gardens as they open as the crowds can be extensive. By the time we left at 11:30, the paths were very crowded. We had the place practically to ourselves arriving at 9:00. The indoor buildings (orchids, arrangements, history) are equally enjoyable.

This is a don't miss. Get admission tickets in advance. We researched the many ways to go there and chose to book our travel there online with a dedicated bus, so maybe it was a shuttle that you get to by taking a ferry from Centraal station across the river where you pick up a shuttle bus. We then rented bikes at Keukenhof which you then take on a self guided route by fields of tulips and stopped for lunch at a cafe along a river. Then returned to Keukenoff to see the formal gardens. Fabulous day

What a truly amazing place. It well deserves its reputation as the world's best spring garden. The tulip displays are incredibly beautiful ranging from formal displays of single or multi-coloured flowers to more natural planting in woodland. It is extremely well organised so even though there are many thousands of people visiting, the paths alongside the tulip plantings are never so crowded that you cannot enjoy the blooms. there are many refreshment areas with toilets and gift shops. It is most certainly a place we would speedily return to in the spring.

Highly recommend!! Myself, my husband, my dad and my sister all visited Keukenhof on the 30th April 2025 - where we missed a lot of the flower fields blooming via the boat trip (still highly recommend the boat trip for an enjoyable rest) the flower displays in the park are INSANELY BEAUTIFUL! Really good facilities for toilets, gift shops and places to eat! Very swift entry despite quite a big queue - definitely book in advance!! We had driven from the centre of Amsterdam and it took about 45mins but a very easy drive (lots of parking too) and we'd purchased our parking ticket when booking tickets a few months ago (you get your parking scanned on the way out). Definitely grab a free map from one of the baskets at the front entrance and if you struggle with walking, recommend to take your aids with you - there is seating around but there's also lots of people there (though you can rent a manual wheelchair from the park I believe). Great place!
Orazione73

We travelled to the Gardens on a tour bus from Central Train Station. The journey was pleasant with a documentary pointing out things to observe. The driver was very good and lowered the bus to make it easier for us to get on. The flowers were beautiful but not as yet in full bloom. Late April to early May is the best time to visit. There was toilets and wheelchair hire at entrance which was quite inexpensive. Around the gardens there are places to sit. Plenty of little shops not very easy to get into. Places to eat, to buy food and drink or areas to sit for a picnic. A lovely time out.

Alles goed geregeld, overal toiletten, veel bankjes, parkeren prima, alles gewoon top! Entreeprijs 20,- maar zeker waard.

Drivers Chris and Brian 100%. Witty, informative and impeccable driving skills. Early morning start taken by taxi to Cambs services to get feeder coach to Folkestone, picking people up from various other areas. Not listed on itinerary. From Folkestone to Gorecham hotel( around 7 hour journey) Hotel immaculate with superb staff. Good choices for breakfast and if you choose to book a table for evening meal you will not be disappointed. Delicious food on offer with excellent service. We enjoyed our visit to Keukenhof park with the most beautiful displays of Tulips. Very busy and crowded, plenty of places to eat and have a drink plus toilets. Amsterdam not enthralled with this City. Very dirty with lots of uncollected rubbish on streets due to Kings birthday celebrations. A map would have been useful as not everyone has a smart phone for Google maps. We chose the river cruise , others opted for the cheese and clog factory. Chris and Brian made sure we were all there for the chosen trips. After these visits you are left to your own devices. Museum Queues were horrendous so therefore we didn’t gain entry. Pre booking is advisable . We walked about not finding anything interesting to look at. Fortunately lots of eating places. Very long day here from 11.30 -7pm. Not impressed. Cycles have the right of way so you need eyes in the back of your head. Amsterdam we will not be returning or recommending. Once again a very big thank you to Brian and Chris for your excellent service.

Keukenhof far exceeded our expectations! We came for the tulips, and while they were stunning in full bloom, what truly surprised us were the vast, thoughtfully designed gardens—so much more than just rows of flowers. Every section offered something unique, with vibrant color displays, artistic landscaping, and serene spots perfect for soaking it all in. It took us about three hours to explore the entire park at a relaxed pace, so be sure to wear comfortable shoes. The pathways are easy to navigate, though you’ll need some patience with the crowds, especially during peak bloom. The food and drink options on-site were pleasantly affordable, which was a nice surprise. One important tip: buy your tickets online in advance. When we arrived, no tickets were available for purchase at the entrance, and many visitors were turned away. Take time to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere, the fresh floral perfume in the air, and the picturesque scenery around every corner. Keukenhof is truly a feast for the senses and a must-visit for anyone in the Netherlands during tulip season!

It's all quite overwhelming the beauty of this place and the variety of tulips ! The pathways around are super smooth and so easy. Good restaurant. Amazing lifetime experience !

Only one word to describe this place - amazing! Our 2nd visit with the first way back in 2017 and the place is amazing as it was in the first visit. Thanks to the hardwork of all the staff.

We were there on opening day. A beautiful park with so many flowers. Very clean. Ground staff is very helpful. Good food in the cafeterias. A must when in Holland. Only 90 mins from Amsterdam by bus, closer to airport.

Awesome gardens! Most beautiful display of flowers EVER seen. Not to be missed during your visit to Amsterdam Mid-March to Mid-May. Enjoyed Hop-on/Hop-off bus from A'Dam Tourist Center to gardens. Spent 4 hours marveling at "nature's finest flower display". All ages shall certainly enjoy the experience. Gardens can be very crowded, especially on holidays like King's Day! Still GO!
cgillet71
Organisation fluide,

I dropped my phone in the canal near the windmill. I want to thank the staff for letting me jump into the canal to retrieve it. And thank them for offering dry clothes. Everything else was also great and amazing!

I wasn’t sure what to expect from Keukenhof Gardens, but it ended up being one of the true highlights of my trip. The gardens are absolutely stunning—perfectly manicured, vibrant, and filled with some of the most inspiring tulip displays you’ll ever see. It's a dream for photographers and social media lovers alike, with beautiful backdrops around every corner. A tip: arrive right when they open. With over 26,000 visitors a day, it gets busy very quickly, and the peacefulness of the early morning is something special. Wandering the gardens before the crowds arrive really lets you soak in the colors, scents, and creativity of the displays. Even if you think gardens might not be your thing, Keukenhof is truly an unforgettable experience. I loved it far more than I ever expected—and I'd go back in a heartbeat.

Amazingly beautiful gardens! Tulips in a wide array of color were planted artistically throughout the grounds. It was hard to stop taking pictures as each turn brought a new view and combination of hues. Lovely!

Wunderschön angelegte Gärten und Tulpenfelder. Alles sehr schön gepflegt! Eine Augenweide wo man auch hinschaut. Sehr gut organisiert

The canal cruise was perfect, the captin come guide gave us headphones to listen in our own language. The riverboat was clean and tidy, easy to walk on and off, it was a nice day and we got some beautiful pictures!! A great end to a fantastic tourist holiday!!

We did the early evening cruise to see the lights of the city. Easy to get tickets by turning up and allocated the next cruise. There is an audio link that you can use, but we decided to just sit outside and watch the views. An hour cruise which was interesting and pretty.
Lynsey T
We had an hour cruise around the canals in Amsterdam and learnt a lot whilst doing it. We really enjoyed every second. My five year old didn’t want to get off. The captain was also very knowledgeable.

This is a must do on your list of things to do while visiting Amsterdam. It takes you through areas that you may not be able to walk to. The captain points out things of interest and tells the story behind it.

Partenza vicino ala stazione centrale. Durata circa un ora. Visita dei canali principali di Amsterdam. Da provare

We had a really lovely time on the one-hour canal cruise. Our captain was very lovely and cracked a good few jokes throughout the tour. The GPS guided tour via the headphones was a fab idea and there were so many language options available which was a really pleasant surprise. We learned so much about the history of the city and the tour even helped us to find places to visit again in further detail after the tour. The price was extremely reasonable considering the excellent experience we got, and our boat even left a little early which was nice. All in all, we would definitely recommend it!

We really enjoyed it. We show I I amsterdam cards at the ticket office ans were on a boat and on our way within 10 minutes. Our captain (Tony I believe was his name) was lovely ,cheerful and very knowledge of the area, he also had 2 traniees with him and they were also lovely. The facilties were clean. If I hadn't have had the I amsterdam card I would have still paid what the price was (which I think is reasonable).

sitting backward is really annoying... Except that I think it is very nice and the captain was a nice guy, he was really funny, making jokes.

Booked through Get Your Guide literally 20 mins before boarding. They let us join a boat that was boarding as soon as we got there, which was great, no standing around as they weren’t so busy. We took a daytime trip and glad we did. Maybe evening cruises would be better in warmer months with open boats. The boat was modern, clean and warm and no condensation at all during any part of our cruise. The headphones were included and the audio commentary was interesting. The captain also added bits and pieces of extra info which was appreciated. It was a great introduction to the canals of Amsterdam as we decided to do this trip literally an hour after arriving in Amsterdam. It helped us with our bearings and with general historical info about the city. The reason for 4 rather than 5 stars is that we seemed to stay on one canal, no museums seen, no Anne Frank house, nothing like that, which was a shame as lots of tourists probably visit these places afterwards. Maybe the canal boat starting from the museums area take that route? We took the one from the station. There are lots of canal boat companies, but we were more than happy with Lovers as their boats appear a lot more modern than many others we saw. I would definitely recommend the cruise and my teenage daughter said it was one of the nicest things we did when in Amsterdam.

A amazing tour with some great canal boat skills performed and a great host. This tour is very much for couples and being alone I felt a little out of place.

Done the open boat tour during the summer. A great way to see the city and the audio guide gave plenty of information along the way. Extremely relaxing to the point I almost fell asleep half way around. Would definitely do the tour again if I’m back in Amsterdam

Guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. Although it rained, I still enjoyed the tour. The only complaint was the audio was difficult to hear at times.

Nice relaxing hour around the canals. Duco (sorry if I have not got the name correct) was informative with history and fun facts. Would recommend.

It was educational, slowed down at the right places. The pilot was polite and explained well- was fun and energetic.
